Until I started to dream of you, I always had a way to keep you out.
You're back in again, my old best friend; I start to wonder too, do you dream of me like I do of you?
Did you see me in your house, wearing nothing much or anything.
Did you walk with me on that boat, sitting at our table all alone.
Were you eating in my house? Arguing at my front door?
Driving away, with the thought at bay, "do I love her anymore? "
Was it you in blue in my bedroom after the homecoming dance?
All those times, I couldn't see your face, but then I felt your embrace.
Or do you dream of someone else, the prettiest girl you've ever seen, way prettier than me.
Does she have chocolate hair, golden curls, and a wonderful way with words?
Is she better than me at everything, captain of the volleyball team,
She's going to be your prom queen?

Sickness did this to me
If only you knew how much I've changed
Since this day, the difference is great
Six years have passed since I underwent
The world-flipping hit, the sign that read, "stop"
Since then I have grown, since then I've been switched
Since then I've matured, toward intelligence I have itched
All the things about me that people once knew
Were gone, as my person suddenly became new
In my head came a voice, one of torture and hate
A voice that switched pitches, still great
It towered over my soul with power and strength
There is nothing I can do to get out of its way
So for the past six years here I have stood
Under the influence of this evil hood
This hate, and this drive, determination all too live
This world and this lifestyle I struggle with inside
If you understand the agony, can read into the pain
You'd understand why I don't want to stay the same
But escaping myself is not something I can do

The Garden
She has a bed of daisies
she waters every day.
She knows when they start blooming
she’ll be far away
The water can she keeps filling,
the daisies are never dry
and their memory of her she is growing
til the day of her goodbye
Setting down the watering can.
It’s come now- way too soon.
Four days left to enjoy
this beauty she has brewed.
No twist of fate can end this need
to leave the place of love,
with all this tender care she’s given,
can she receive no compassion from above?
This morning came a joyous triumph
-the first bud is half bloomed.

Going Cross-eyed
I was gonna write a poem, but I got caught up in defeat.
I was gonna tell the world, but I've been knocked off my feet.
I was gonna make us last, but I'm just now realizing
I'm obviously not the person with whom you want to be.
You do whatever they tell you, and she's a bossy b*tch
I trusted her when I told her, you and I'd be a perfect hitch
It's now been engraved in my soul, be careful who you know
Friends aren't always friends and pinky promises don't always go.
Overcome with anger, flushed red with the truth
She broke my weak fragile heart, she fell in love with you
I should have told you so much sooner, shouldn't have let you go
I wrote in such a fury, now we'll never know
Because I will never have the courage
to say that I love you, even though I do.

Steps Backwards
Thanks to all for watching me
and for the compliments, dealt dutif'ly
I am simply stunned to know
so many really watched the show
But even though it went so well
we were loved by all around
The more you all will build me up
myself, I will tear down
No, I don't cry at night no more
nor do I dream of fears
Old habits, evil, are seeping through
as I remember previous years
Love may seem to be going well
Looking in from the outside
but I don't focus as is normal for me
and addiction is coming back to get the best of me

His Face
His face is satisfying
It brings no thoughts of guilt
only dreams for a future
and inspiration to carry on
and hope that he thinks of me too
but common sense, because he doesn't
but the determination that he will
One day, I'll think back
to the first day I saw
His face in the lecture hall
So little did I know
His face would attract me so
like a moth to a soft light
I fell out of a steady flight

TONIGHT i saw a shooting star, the little voice said, make a wish and i did.
i made the same wish i always do. I always wish for you.
i wished you loved me. i mouthed the words.

so I'm falling in love again
but this time he's perfection
like everything I could ever ask for

they say friday nights are when
wild youth go out on the
town and kick up their boots
