Forgetting

Do you remember when I got mad at you for biting your nails? You went on biting then no matter what I’d say. Do you remember the signs we made to go with the phrase ‘peace out diggity dog’? It was your idea to add a dig and I thought it threw everything off. We had secret words and just things that set us apart from other friends back then.
What I remember from the first day that we met was you and your brother were shy but I liked you at first. I made you my enemy right away and you pledged the same hate to me on Valentines Day. It wasn’t til he did the same to me; your crush (my friend) we plotted out his death when you came along. Here let me help-
Won’t you remember how we helped each other through all those boring lectures and let each other copy homework secretly and we cheated, talked during class, and I knew your password (I still do) . It was great until you got that giant head, forgot all that we’d said. Now not a day goes by that what we were crosses my mind, or that awful day that you saw me cry (the day Zach died) .
Now I’ll remember how it felt when you held me tight, we talked on the phone until late at night. I wrote your notes when you broke your arm; as you did for me when I had hives and was alarmed. We were picked on by our teachers, it was you that took it hard. We got older, it got different, everything started to change, now here I am trying to arrange a way, to go back to seventh grade.
Do you still bite your nails? Ruining those hands that mine seem to fit into perfectly, in memories.
