Autumn Meeting
As I step up to this microphone
it gives me much delight
to say how very honoured am I
to be here with you all tonight,
discussing the rising crime rate
and the present fianancial situation
the high unemployment statistics
and social discrimination...
But first may we join together
and thank the good Lord above
for all the great things in this life
through the power of His love.
And prior to wearing our thinking caps
enjoy the music for our Queen,
drinking red wine to a Concerto divine
for England and her fields of green.

Mr. Music Man
September breezes blow
Skies turn darkest grey.
Rivers overflow
And love is faraway.
What is he living for?
Life holds no joy within,
No child saying 'daddy'
No championship to win.
His debts are growing still,
He totalled up the score
And yesterday the bailiffs came
Knocking on his door.
Ah, but where there's music
And songs in bright array
Melodies fall upon his ear
And the day's a Holy day.

June In January
The morning is a wonderful morning
Fluffy white clouds dance to a tune.
And love songs with music so mellow
Enhance the wonder of June.
Rich floral colours blend together
Sparkling in the summertime glow.
And the air is so freah this morning
Cheering the heart, ever so!
A stillness and calmness within me
Prompts a poetical lay
And words flow gently and sweetly
Perfumed with the roses of May.
Today brings an old-fashioned picture
A Van Gogh Antique makes me swoon.
I feel just like singing loud praises
To God ~ for the glory of June.

Lost To An Angel
Romance was over
And love went away.
She lost him to an Angel
In heaven faraway.
She knew he had entered
High heaven above,
And will always remember
Their encounter of love.
But his life now belongs
To someone apart,
He smiles at an Angel
Who has captured his heart.
Not long ago his kisses were wine
And for a brief year or two
Her blue eyes were blind.
Then to heaven he soared
One day in the spring
Left her standing alone

Beyond All Dreams
Paradise Way is here to stay
Beyond all dreams of the Milky Way.
Beyond the moon, beyond the stars
Ruby with silver and gold is ours.
Ruby, silver and gold is the day
The day we meet down Paradise Way
In a brief and secret rendezvous
Without my darling, what would I do?
Friendship pure as a dove from above.
In you I trust ~ for it's you I love.
To feel your gentle arms around me
Ruby with silver and gold surround me.
Paradise Way is here to stay
Beyond all dreams of the Milky Way.
Beyond the moon, beyond the stars,
Ruby with silver and gold is ours.

The Beauty Of June
This dawn is a wonderful dawning
Fluffy clouds dance to a tune
An expanse of bright gold and yellow
Enhances the wonder of June.
The borders of flowers blend together
Sparkling in the summertime glow
And the air is so fresh this morning
Cheering one's heart, ever so!
A stillness and calmness within me
Prompts a poetical lay,
And my words flow gently and sweetly
As birds hearken to all that I say.
Today brings an old-fashioned picture
A Van Gogh antique makes me swoon,
And I feel just like singing loud praises
To God ~ for the beautiful glory of June.

Music Shines
I love wind concertos,
romantic guitars, violins
and fine symphonies,
maestros in concert and
Elvis the King singing
those sweet melodies.
Give to me calm and solitude
idle moments with peace
sublime, and all I'd ask then
is a resting place, with love
songs to soothe my mind.
How romantic was music
from the old world, when each
high mountain top bowed
as Orpheus, his rhythm played
and trees reached up to a cloud.
Where would we be without music?

Poets of Great Renown
Samuel Taylor Coleridge
and William Wordsworth were
eighteenth-nineteenth Century
British Poets of renown...
they collaborated in fine
lyrical ballad style, both
loving the rhythm and rhyme
of Shakespeare, his sonnets
and his plays.
In seventeen ninety six
Wordsworth and Coleridge met,
becoming 'poetry' friends,
but sadly with time their
friendship ended.
I quote just four lines from their
lengthy poem of imagination..
The Ancient Mariner.
'He prayeth best, who loveth best

Late Autumn Mobility Week
Unclean vehicles, lorries and vans
appear unsightly to everyone's eye
but as cleanliness is next to Godliness
an autumnal hose-down would purify
a satisfaction we could not deny.
And in the cool of late September
as the summer sun faded away,
I took another look around me...
and the city seemed dismal and grey.
Ah, late September ~ mobility week
when drivers made use of the hose,
they washed and polished their motorcars
and the prettiest city was winning stars.
Complete satisfaction was ours.
(Please note: too much use of
the hose may encourage flooding)

Love's Concerto In June
Authors - Joyce Hemsley
and John William McGrath.
By the moon, I was enraptured.
I cried like a weeping willow,
reaching for the faraway stars
and memories beneath my pillow.
Like a whirlwind you came to me,
I weakened to words the singers croon.
Passion I felt, was more than real
Love's concerto ~ playing in June.
I dream a slightly different dream,
time goes by and I can't forget you;
my heart may show a thousand scars,
how could I believe without you?
Like a child you may turn away
obscuring the stars and sun at noon.
Tears of sorrow I could not conceal
without 'love's concerto in June'.
