Poem

This poem is a gift

Free words

Under the stench of a barbed wire world

Flowers that live on

After the flowers have been blown from the graves

In the midst of war

These words are a gift

A balm for the poor hungry mouth

To feed on

After the nightmare of carnage

Perfect Lover

My perfect lover was sent to me

By way of a hypnotherapist

On a soft deep couch

It summoned itself

Through soft words

Spoken

Soporific

Like drunk angels

Whose wings too heavy to fly

Rested on the shutters of the eye

Prayer

There is no prayer, for the dead man in the street

For the pauper who plies his trade

For the traveller with dirty feet

There is no prayer that can eclipse the sun

For what is done is done!

No mourning

Turning cry

No casting shadow

Only dust

And so much lost

Breaking BAD WIND

Breaking bad wind is a terrible sin
It's when you've eaten something rotten and can't keep it in
Sometimes it's silent, but deadly it soon vacates a packed room
It leaves the farter lonely and feeling real blue
Sometimes it trumpets above the loud din
It's a conversation stopper
Breaking BAD WIND is a terrible sin!
Soon the farter is ostracised pushed out from their home
Left lonely and flatulent on dark streets to roam
Until a large peppermint defuses the trouble
Deflates the gut turns houses to rumble
Til all is forgotten forgiven released
Foul aromas extinguished,
The world left in peace

Casserole

It was a casserole of an affair

Too many vegetables to name in the file for divorce

I knew the rift would fade and die

And that all loves complete their course

It was an out of court settlement

To save the tomato its blushes

And avoid exposing the greeness of the cucumber

The potato came out on top

[the the underdog must have it's day! '

P.S The cauliflower left quietly with a slab of cheese

Crowd

I cannot flee the crowd

My feet lose themselves in the rythmn

My body swims into the sea

I cannot see my hand or recognise my face

Nor feel a breath or sigh or hint of love

Each face faceless

Each heart unseen

And yet we live and breathe as one

with one breath unfelt

Body Snatchers

Twilight emisssary

Under a full round moon

Pregant from a white shining necessity

A goodness 'breeding'

Lips raised soft

Erect to feed

The so many hungry mouths

No this is no 'third world no mans land'

This is the desert of the heart

Love Is

Love is not that simple

Not as simple as,

Love is?

Yet I remember you,

In and out of love,

Nothing lost

That is not gained

Yes I remember you,

In and out of love

In a year full of famine

These words

These words will be gone tomorrow

They steal the numbers from the streets

Til every door looks the same

These words like candles will burn out

They steal the light from temporary souls

Soon, too soon

They will bury the love

Under the tongues of yesterdays softness

As if they never were, more

As if they hunger still
