William Roseboro Sr.

The Candy Was Sweet

Innocently trusting, she approached the car.
This sweet little girl of nine.
O, the pity, mother never explained,
strangers can be unkind! A piece of candy, is all it took,
to get her in the car.
Now, late evening, everybody's searching!
Searching near and far! Mother couldn't hear her feeble cries!
She could only wonder, as her baby dies!
Baby's no more! Mother left behind!
The candy was sweet, but the stranger unkind!
