A Flower Grows In My Garden
A flower blossomed in my garden
Shines its light all through the day
Array of colours reflect the sunlight
That radiates from its heart of gold
Emiting loving vibrations
It multiplied in the years ahead
Over the country it did spread
Sowing its seed along the way
Joy and tenderness it brought forth
Each and every day
The fragrance of the flower
Is pleasing to the gods
The aroma fills the air
People come to see
The beautiIful flower that grows there
The flower is my daughter
I thank God from up above

Winter Fun In Newfoundland
Cross country skiing, spectcular views along the way
Ski-dooing across the country side
A fantastic ride
Ice fishing in the ponds, rivers and bays
An ending to a nice day
Winter camping is such fun
Rabbit stew for everyone
Playing cards with family and friends,
On a cold stormy winter day
Moose hunting in the winter cold
A daring adventure for any soul
Moose steaks frying in the pan
A glass of screech in your hand
I f your lucky, home made beer and moonshine too
Hiking through the park
Breathing in the air so fresh
Walking over the crispy snow
Hearing the crunch as you go
Enjoy a country dance
Where they play a jig two

Berry Picking
Berry picking back of the island,
Hiked a mile through the woods
Came upon the bright red berries
Glazed purple in the morning sun
We got down on our knees and picked everyone
The October sun shining down
Wild cranberries by the sea is a spectacular sight to see
Time out for lunch, we sat on a log
Surrounded by grasses, reed, and bog
Food tasted delightful out of doors
We savoured every bite
A gray jay in flight decided to join us for awhile
The uninvited guess indulged in the very best
We chatted for awhile of ordinary things
What the weather will bring
Cooking onion rings
Before going back to fill our sacks
The hours flew by
The October sun was fading from the sky
With red stained fingers and bruised knees,

All Alone
SHE SITS THERE ALL ALONE
HER CHILDREN GROWN
WITH FAMILY OF THEIR OWN
SHE WONDERS WHAT HAPPEN
CHILDREN ALL OF THREE
THEY HAVE GROWN LIKE FRUIT UPON THE TREES
GRANDCHILDREN SHE HAS SIX
GETTING HARDER TO REMEMBER THEIR NAMES
SHE SITS THERE ALL ALONE
NO ONE COMES TO VISIT
HER GRANDCHILDREN DOESN, T KNOW HER
HER CHILDREN HAS FORSAKEN HER
SHE WONDERS WHY
SHE SITS THERE ALL ALONE
SHE LOVED HER CHILDREN DEARLY
WANTED NOTHING BUT THE BEST
WORKED HARD AND WENT WITHOUT
HER CHILDREN SHE WOULD DIE FOR
SHE SITS THERE ALL ALONE
SHE WONDERS WHY

Ocean Ranger Disaster
On a cold stormy February night 1982
A news flash on tv
Out at sea the Ocean Ranger was listing dangerously
Off the Grand Banks of Newfoundland
The Ocean Ranger was sinking to the bottom of the sea
Eighty -five men were cast into the icy sea
Untrained men, No safety protocol
Sixty-five foot waves came crashing down
Winds 100 miles per hour
The men were sucummed with hypothermia and drowned
The famous oil rig went down
The Ocean Ranger it was named
The giant of the sea was going to bring Newfoundland riches and fame
All it brought was death and pain
Many widows were made that night
Children clinging to their mothers
Realizing their daddies were never coming home
Sadness and tears filled every household
They were left to mourn that cold, stormy winter night
Always remember the brave men from the bay
