Goalie
The lightening limbs of goalie Knight
Thrust left. strike right; they block the sight
Of these inferior, tepid players
Whose slapshots speed but have no bite.
He wears a mask of white, blank leering,
Callous to even home fan cheering.
Visiting skaters do their best
But cannot pierce this phantom sneering.
Periods ebb, the referees whistle;
The penalty box fills, coaches bristle.
The goalie crouches in his lair;
He guards the score with rank dismissal
As buzzers sound, players dissemble;
The Gorgon goalie makes big men tremble.
