Reminiscent of dark days
When ancestors were
Fettered and ferried
Across oceans
Into servitude
In distant lands
Pent-up compatriots
Sleep at embassies

On my exit today
Master
I recall with nostalgia
My first humble step
Into your intimidating workshop
