Christmas in New Zealand

Christmas is here
And the carols are being sung
A lamb haunch, cooked to perfection for lunch
The rich odour assaults my nose
Beer and wine
Constructing a posse of laughing loons
Over-full tummies assemble around the telly
Watching the Black Caps play
Rapping paper lies idle under the Christmas tree
Someone will clean it up tomorrow
At the end of the day, no dinner, only a small supper
Graces our stomachs before we hit the hay
And begin, once again, our long wait
For next years Christmas
