Shedd's Aquarium
To the aquarium just for the day
Down to Chicago, we’re on our way
To Shedd’s Aquarium and the lake shore
But first a wait of 40 minute’s or more
Once inside, we can see the ocean floor
With fishes, crab’s and shark’s galore
An octopus, the brightest color of red
Some dolphins, belugas and hammerheads
We touched starfish, in water sooo cold!
It was fun for all, the young and the old
A lobster that could feed a family of four
A snapping turtle so big, it couldn’t fit through a door
All of this we saw, all in one day
Then back in the car, to be on our way

August Sun
The birth of August is upon us, as the fair haired sun rises in the sky
With songs of the cicada unwinding, the sand hill Cranes sail by
The heat is hoovering all around us, we feel heavy in it's grip
To break free from it's bonds, from it's clutches we must rip
Shade gives little relief, to this melting, bending soul
A river full of water, is not enough to quench this foe
Only darkness breaks the curse, that the day could not hide
Relief is but short...and that too must subside
For August is just arriving, her journey's just begun
It's only just beginning; her moment in the sun

Muskegon River
Floating down the river in a canoe
Left the world behind, just your family and you
Ten miles of paddling, around river bends
Passed downed logs, turtles, and wrens
Watching dragonflies chasing around
The river gets shallow, and we run aground
We get out and set our canoe afloat
Then help the guys, unstuck their boat
We “DUCK” as we float under a tree
Just the four of us, my family and me
We come to a place, where people reside
Ducks fly and crayfish hide
Past seawalls, we come around the bend
We can see it, the launch at the end
It’s a mad dash, back to the shore
The water is flying and so are the oar

My life with Oprah
In 1986 I started a new chapter in my life
New town, new job and being a new wife
Just 18, had the world by the tail
Going down a path that nothing in this world could derail
Started watching Oprah, as I took care of my home
The world was a wonderland that I just needed to roam
Family and friends were as close as the air
Naïve and wide eyed, no stress and no care
For 25 years I’ve seen and felt many things
Life isn’t always easy God knows what it brings
Still married with a family of my OWN
My family, my life and I have grown
Something’s in life now conclude
As I stop and reflect in this brief interlude

I Sing
I sing to vent the pain that is sometimes in me
Other times I sing of happiness, jubilation and glee
Sometimes I sing in celebration and can rock out all night long
I sing of love through every ballad and heart wrenching love song
Sometimes I sing a song that is trapped inside my head
I sing it all day long, sometimes until I go to bed
I sing of memories, songs that mark pages in my past
I sing on holidays, great carols that last and last and last
I sing when I am working, then time doesn’t seem so long
I sing when I am lonely, there’s nothing like the comfort of a song
To me, to sing with all my voice is simply a blast
I hope to sing everyday of my life until I breathe my last

Graduations Past
As I look back on my own graduation, I reflect
On the race to finish learning, test and studying all I reject
Done feeling judged, tried of trying to fit in
Not knowing that exactly how I’d feel when the real world set in
I now cherish those days, when everyday I talked with a friend
When all the steps were mapped out from beginning to end
All I wanted was to be set free into this great world
All my life was out There…waiting for me to unfurl
Using rudimentary tools, I carved a nitch in this place
When I’m done I hope to leave a mark on the whole human race
Stilling learning today, facing test after test
Studying people, hoping to understand them, doing my best
Not judging others, hoping not to be judged is the goal
To stand out from the crowd, yet being one with my soul
Wherever you go, the whole world is a school
Just stop and listen closely… it’s talking to YOU

Golden Wheat
Remember me when the South wind blow
Golden wheat, where the waves dance in row
Forget the emptiness and cold
Embrace love and the memories you hold
Remember me solemnly gazing for doe
Golden wheat, where waves dance in row
Entwined together on the greens we rolled
Embrace love and the memories you hold
Will you stay with me, as old we grow
Golden wheat, where the wave dance in row
Together we'll erase the world's toll
Embrace love and the memories you hold
South wind lover always know
Golden wheat, where waves dance in row
Bodies come together as if made in a mold
Embrace love and the memories you hold
