Strangely Familiar
Today I saw a cat that reminded me of you.
It looked straight through me, just as you do.
with a nonchalant glance it then turned away,
its nose up in the air with nothing to say.
Considering me as dirt, it vanished in the rain,
and just like you I suppose, never to be seen again.

Gone
Gone is the anguish from my heart
Gone is the suffering of being apart.
Gone is the agony I felt deep inside
Gone are the tears I could not hide.
Gone is the guilt of which I was beset
Gone is the misery of feeling regret.
Gone is the trust I held so true
Gone is the love I had for you.

The Final Destination
The purpose of my life has been carried above
by an angel who has taken the shape of a dove.
Up and away she has gone from this arduous life,
free from the pain she suffered by day and night.
She’s gone to a place so much different to Earth,
the final destination searched for since birth.

Don't
Don’t take me to that place of lust
where desire turns to deep disgust.
Don’t take me to even greater depths
where pleasure sinks to deep regrets.
Don’t abandon me in erotic dreams
and let me drown in flooded streams.
Don’t exchange my love for lust
and leave me feeling with disgust.

Memories Are Giving Me A Bad Time
There’s a dark cloud hovering above me
and it follows wherever I go.
It brings sadness in the form of teardrops,
that taste of salt and sorrow.
My world has become cold and lonely,
and I’ve tried to fight the tears,
but memories are giving me a bad time
I do wish they would disappear.

A High Seas Drifter
A sheet of ice separated from the glacier
breaking up as it hit the sea.
A tired seal needed to rest for a while
so clambered aboard for safety.
As it slept upon the small raft of ice
it dreamed of cod and haddock.
A shark leapt into the air creating a wave
that swept the seal into its empty stomach

In The Derwent River
Don’t place my lifeless body in a box
and lay me in the cold, damp, ground,
so that in years to come they can dig me up
and move my bones around.
Place my body in a warm dark place
and ignite the walls of fire,
so my flesh and bones become ash and dust,
and I can be scattered where I desire.

Red Rain
Torrential rain poured again last night
brought by North Africa’s might.
Southern winds carried the red desert sand
to the towns of the Spanish land.
The wind, rain, and sand, from high
have no master to satisfy.
No boundaries to their limitless force
they’re free to travel their sweeping course.

The Snowman
Don’t give your love to the snowman
he’s got a cold heart of snow.
A true roaming gypsy of the winter
who knows not when to come or go.
He’ll leave your heart heavy with sadness
with no goodbyes before he disappears,
and don’t go thinking the puddle he’s left
is a pool of goodbye tears.

Double Trouble
Yesterday on the street I passed a stranger,
but the stranger I passed was me.
At first, I didn’t believe it was possible,
but it was, how could that be?
It wasn’t a window or mirror reflection,
and I have no brotherly twin.
I’m much too young to father children,
perhaps I’m a clone like him?
