A Campfire
There's something ‘bout a fire and the mesmerizing glow
Of its dancing, flick'ring embers that does enthrall me so
A soft and gentle fire slowly glowing in the night
Soothing, calming, warming. It is such a pure delight
The best time for a fire's when the flames they have died down
And the crackling and the popping all have ceased
All the flurry and the groaning, all the hurry and the churning
All have gone, and now the fire is at peace

Cat Up On The Cupboard
Hey cat, up there on the cupboard staring with your green eyes down on me,
Watcha doin' up there cat? Pretending that you are a panther, say?
Are you going to jump down on my head because I am your prey?
Better not you stupid cat, I'm bigger anyway
And I can beat you one-on-one though you'd be a tiger, say!
You jump on me you stupid cat and that will be your biggest bungle,
I will kick the nine-lives out of you though you'd be the jaguar of the jungle!

Greed is Good
“Greed is good! ” they say
Some say “Greed is great! ”
Will they say that when the masses
Are bashing down their gate?
Will they still pray to their god ‘Greed’
When they find that it’s too late?
All the starving children
They don’t think greed is good
They would rather have each day
A sufficiency of food
All the freezing homeless
How great is greed to those?
A bit of tin to shelter in
Would please them (I suppose)
What good is greed to anyone
When it is served with hate?
I’d rather have a shred of humanity

Shall I Compare Thee To A Summer Day?
"Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? "
I think you may be right,
But you would be better off to say:
"I compare thee to a winter's night! "
For she is so cold and unforgiving,
If such a fool would try
To venture forth for conquests,
Then such a fool would die.
To take on such a winter
You truly must prepare,
All summer long work hard, work strong,
Prepare your winters fare.
Gather fire-wood and bedding,
Clothes and curtains too,
Get ready for the siege of winter,
Prepare all the autumn through.
Now bolt your doors and windows,

On Suicide
What I’m to say on suicide
It is sooo profund
There’s one thing I know ‘bout suicide:
YOU DON’T GET NO REFUND!
It’s not like if one day, let’s say
You should have a heart attack
You could go down to Medicare
And maybe get some money back
You cannot break the stuff of life
And then take it back to the shop
They would only laugh at you
And to your face they’d mock:
“Your broken life’s no good to us
A broken life will just not sell
Bring it back another day
When it has been made well.”
“The damage you had done to you
