Awkward sleep comes restlessly
Watch the flames tongue the sky endlessly
Burn the burdens in the night
Like a star,
They may flicker… but they know where you are
Burn the candle at both ends
Till the wicks meet; disintegrate again
Level the levee in sections
Flood your brain every few seconds
Hope you learn to swim before the coming attraction
Of an ocean like river with waves cresting
White washing the ballad of a memory
Sing
Or scream
Bellow out the words that crumble in obscurity.
Awkward sleep comes restlessly
Watch the flames swirl and slick so seductively
And dismantle the shelf
As it crumbles under the pressure of the things it held.
