Pre-Occupation
It is not yet noon
And indeed it cannot come too soon
For already I'm at my wits end
Trying to figure myself out of this bend
Where all I can seem to do
Is fail to stop my thoughts from wandering to you
And my heart from diving south
And that annoying smile from curving my mouth
I'm not comfy with the swell of emotions
I experience at all these crazy notions
I assure you, I have better thoughts to think
And although I say this with a wink
Seeing as I've yet to earn my daily bread...
Could you kindly get the hell out of my head? ? ? ! ! ! !

The Thing That Has No Name
What is this thing, I do not know
But if you also feel it, pray tell me so
It makes mush of all my reason
My yearn for it, unending in its season
It's in me, around me, always in sight
In the morning, afternoon and night
Its not welcome, as is same for all ill
But does it listen, it lingers still
My knees are weak and won't hold up
For much longer, if this doesn't stop
My heart I find, is most pleased with this secret
Of the malady that ails me, whose truth I cannot ferret
For what it's worth, let history recall
That if it kills me, I died happiest of all

Change
It's coming, its started, it has begun
Transformation, alteration, I feel reborn
In me a stretching here, a tearing there...
But not the kind that brings wear and tear
An enlightenment, an illumination
Brought about mostly by my rumination
Whether good or bad, I feel alive
Assuredly, I determine to thrive
Freedom, a silver lining on cloud change
Of body, mind and spirit, it doesn't feel strange
An urgent buzz calls me to higher ground
As though I've spent too long aground
Oh catalyst, the why and how you'd
best record
It's happened, it's come, change has occurred

Unfathomable Love
Especially in the best of seasons
When, in spite of all adverse reasons
My subconscious brings to the fore
How I couldn't possibly ask for more
These thoughts bring a yin-yang feeling
Of joyous gratitude and sorrowed keening
Of Wonderment, at His love's unfathomable natures
Of Disappointment at my somewhat irredeemable features
Of amazement at its encompassing powers
Of Wretchedness at times, because of its abundant showers
Of stupefaction at constancy that is nothing if not priceless
Of dissatisfaction at devotion best described as mindless
Behold, one and all this unfathomable love
The reality of it appreciated, not nearly enough

Life's Enigma
Life's enigma, I wonder what it's all about
Meaninglessly we expend evanescent days, in and out
Mortgaged to drudgery, in the name of duty
Slaves to denial, in the interest of propriety
Sadly, things we long most to do, we don't
Strangely, feelings we yearn most to express, we won't
Compulsion moves me to request this much
Freedom to enjoy pleasing things as such
Laughter, love and peace with loved ones
Great health till my end, with money in zillions
Time....endless time to prolong the pleasure
I find in my lover's arms, free of censure
My resolve is to strive till the end of my days
To see my life spent meaningfully, pursuing these ways

Memories
There are these sweet little pests
I wish they could be described as guests
Though they come, not at my behest
And I'm certain, not always in my interest.
Easily, they penetrate my mind's recess
Scurrying determinedly about their business
Bringing light to a grief darkened fortress
And renewing sensations with piercing newness
They bear gifts of warmth and succour presently
That aid the passage of time somewhat decently
And ease the ache in body and soul sufficiently
With remembrance of pleasures enjoyed recently
Of the comforting warmth felt when held
Of the liquid pleasure shared when lips meld
Of the sweetest discomfort with which we swelled
Of the exquisite love created when our bodies jelled.

Not an ordinary girl
She walked along a windy road
That so many before her trod
The Lord saw fit to bless her rich
With father, mother and sibling each
Yet she was not an ordinary girl
She had 2 eyes,2 ears, of course 2 lips
But not the sort to cause men's flips
Her hips were okay for a sashay
But I swear we'd seen better in SA
Yet she was not an ordinary girl
She was possessed of charm and wits
And once in a while caused laughing fits
Her brain was sharp, her heart was kind
But millions of her, easy to find
Yet she was not an ordinary girl
She worked as hard as the next man
Her ambition, part of a simple plan

Why You?
There is a question that crawls into my subconscious
And no matter how inane or atrocious
I find myself compelled to ponder
Of all the men I've known yonder
Why you?
Mayhap it be your soothing voice
That has begotten you my choice
Suppose I fell for that laughter
That serenaded me willing to my slaughter
Why you?
Perhaps it's the lure of the sunny side
On which you promise we'll abide
Maybe its the twinkle in your eye
when so outrageously, you flatter I
why you?
Could it be that astute mind
so alert, the only one of its kind
