Unknown Slave

Our destiny is before us, my friend
It is........like the unseen wind that blows through the heights
It is like the icy winter snow
falling down from the sky
It is like the brightest star
shining ever so brightly but only
a pin in the night

Our destiny is to be out there...........among the stars
to court the Moon herself
Like the most fleet of foot
like the most wise of age
the most strong of men

Our destiny is to be one with the
Universe
like the oneness that is between you and I

And even though are earthly form is of servants,
our spirits, one day, will run across the sky

Forgotten Ship

A wind tossed ship lost at sea
heavy tempest blowing mightily
even that harbor light
which shines so bright
never to return my love to me

The sea, that judgmental sea
claimed the one promised to me
and no one who heard it could explain
the mysterious sound the waves made

The lighthouse searches the sound
for that forgotten ship never found
I walk the shipyard late and pray
to catch a glimpse of that familiar face

When the evening settles down, I sleep
an empty place beside me
lately having the same dream
I remember only partially

Honey Biscuits And Gravy

My wife and I sat down one day
to honey biscuits and gravy
and when the last of it was on my plate
what did she say to me

She said, 'my dear devoted husband
husband of many years
would you give the last of that breakfast treat
oh would you please, my dear? '

I said, 'my wife, my darling wife
wife of many years
of biscuits and gravy I cannot part'
so with my fork I began to start

But before I could reach the plate
I was stopped by my hungry mate
She said, 'I'll give you silver and gold
all the fortunes yet untold
if you'll give what's on your plate

The Journal

Alpine expanse, green all around never ending
Clear horizon, the sky blue as can be seen
for miles and miles
Natural habitat, the natives undisturbed and living
as one with nature
Tall grass, a green blanket covering the ground and
preserving tranquility
Blazing sun, the brilliance of life and all things

Cool breeze, my face lights up as the gentle force
caresses my skin
Birds singing, hundreds of voices in a gigantic choir
Water rippling, sunlight shimmering
over the aquatic canvas
Night comes, the sun giving way to the darkness
An owl hoots, mysterious abstract voices
command the night creatures
A cricket chorus, thousands of invisible things
making a mighty sound
Fireside, the heat welcome compared to the late chill
