La Canto Finale

Canto I
I weep before the heaven shuts
perpetual remorse to the twilight of my rest
not even the hands of the sun shall pierce
beyond the wintriness of my lonely grave.
Salvage not the forlorn conferred
in the darkness of my cell I chose to stay
to embrace my sentence foretold by time
til’ the silent cry of the nightingale retires.
How much more poison ought to take?
before my remains denies the pain
the scar of my scarlet rose
that went astray one gloomy day.
