There Is No Excuse To Be A Racist
There is no excuse to be a racist,
We all are made the same.
No one belongs on some damned list,
Racism is a dirty shame.
Whether you're black, or just plain white,
Or yellow, brown, or red.
We must all learn to see the light,
And sleep in the same bed.
Somebody just called me a beaner,
Because of my last name.
I must suppose her grass is greener,
At least that's what she claims.
And I wished her a great life,
And calmly turned the page.
I can do without the bitter strife,
I don't need problems at my age.

I love To Go Fishing
I love to go fishing everyday,
To the river or the lake.
Up in the morning without delay,
I go fishing soon as I wake.
Down to the water to wet my line,
My float bobbing up and down.
Fishing in the morning, is just so fine,
Your face will never sport a frown.
A big ole catfish, or a little bluegill,
I just don't give a hoot.
I love the way fishing makes me feel,
To me it's like forbidden fruit.
If I get lucky and get a bite,
Then the day is made.
I'll stick around till early night,
Just snoozing in the shade.

Old Men Just Go Fishing
When a young man's fancy, turns to desire,
An old man just goes fishing.
It takes too long to stoke that fire,
And what's the use in wishing.
So I pull out my rods, pull out my reels,
And go kick my old truck's tires.
Unlike with love, I won't miss meals,
And I won't put out no fires.
I'll just make sure my tackle box,
Is bursting at the seams,
No fancy cars I love old trucks,
No women in my dreams.
I'd rather be fishing any old day,
Not to say women are fickle.
And above all I just must say,
Fish won't slap when you tickle.

Of Humans And Dogs
The more I know human beings,
The more I love my dogs.
There's no comparison I'm seeing,
Like a princess and a frog.
A dog will always be there,
No matter what you've done,
A human just can't seem to care,
For you or anyone.
A human will turn you away,
And never blink an eye.
A dog will be there everyday,
And will never make you cry.
A dog will give you love,
unconditionally.
Humans just don't give enough,
There's no comparison for me.

New Shoes
I need new shoes to go to school,
Papi is taking me to, Mission dry goods.
New shoes for school, the Golden Rule,
Got a new grey sweater with a hood.
Gonna get new shoes today,
But they are just to go to school.
The old ones are so I can play,
Not so I can look so cool.
So all I want are PF Flyers,
Then everyone can look at me.
He can run faster, jump even higher
they'll say, just like Johnny Quest on t.v.
I am so happy, Papi bought for me,
My PF Flyers at the shoe store today.
I can run faster jump higher you see,
I got new shoes for school, hooray.

A Candy Kiss
A candy kiss so very sweet,
Like peppermint covered candy sticks.
Like chocolate covered cherry treats,
Swirling around inside your cheeks.
A candy kiss, just pure delight,
That leaves a taste of sugar on your lips.
Or that very special kiss good night,
Like pixie stix in tiny sips.
A candy kiss, like butter scotch,
Pure ecstasy that makes you drool.
Or like a homemade piece of fudge,
That you couldn't leave to cool.
Candy kisses so sweet and fine,
Can't get them at the candy shop.
But you will crave them all the time,
And hope to God they never stop.

Happiness, Requiem
Happiness to a broken heart,
Is like water to a tree.
So be careful from the start,
Lest all happiness should flee.
Little things somehow add up,
To something big someday.
So make sure to fill her cup,
With affectionate displays.
Don't be a fool, it just won't do,
To set her needs aside.
She needs to hear it, just like you,
About that love you have inside.
Happiness can only come,
If you open wide your door,
The little things, that seem to some,
Will add up more and more.

A Dream Of Home
This is where I want to be,
where everybody smiles at me.
This stretch of water that winds away,
from west to east and I will say,
If you like fishing this is the place,
to cast your line and slow your pace.
To take in the valley sun,
catching blue -gills by the ton
There's rio-grande perch and bass all around,
sunfish and bluegills and I've even found,
carp and garr all sorts of stuff,
even a big old copperhead in the rough.
I know I am dreaming, but soon I won't be,
and my little stream will be reality,
in McAllen, Texas, it waits patiently,
for me to return, fishing's for me.

Why Do We Need Rules For Poetry?
Why do we need rules for poetry?
Let's make a Haiku with ten lines and one hundred syllables.
Let's make a limerick with ten lines, and not rhyme it.
Let's just do whatever the hell we want to do.
After all it's yourself that you want to express,
Do whatever the hell you want to.
You don't have to listen to anyone.
You don't have to follow rules.
After all you say it's acceptable now.
This is modern poetry,
I am not governed by archaic rules, put forth,
By men and women thousands of miles away,
Or in some foreign country.
I am me, I will do as I wish, and no rules apply to me.
Why do we need rules for poetry?
Beats me.

But, I Can't Stop Fishing! ! !
But, I can't stop fishing,
I told my new wife.
It's an integral part,
Of all young men's lifes.
But she laid down the law,
It was fishing or her.
Get rid of the tackle,
The rods and the lures.
She wanted no part,
Of those smelly fish.
To tell you the truth,
She was really a...pain.
Well I don't know what happened,
But after a while,
She just let it go,
Like a bright eyed little child.
