Meeting Today's Needs
Forty word poem:
A 'living wage' should always be
above the poverty line...adequate
for a male worker to cope
with everyday life, supporting his
children and supporting his wife.
Living Wage, an important phrase
whilst the gloom of worldwide
recession is rife.

Beautiful Merger
Forty words:
Two innocent hearts married in June
With passion and ardent fervour.
No one-sided romance in bloom
Never a Takeover ~ but a Merger.
All things being fair, a melding together.
Adoration always in equal measure.
Heavenly newly-weds happy forever.

Romeo Sings to Juliet
When your eyes failed to notice me
Then I knew love could never be.
I shall live with a broken heart
Today and evermore...
I will miss your delightful kiss
And that feeling of heavenly bliss.
But I pray our love story will ever be
In the Archives of romantic history.

Mental Image
Forty words:
Salvation lies far over
the rainbow...
where in time, all spirits fly.
God's blessings never die.
Having lived in this world
through love and sorrow,
at the rainbow I did peer,
imagining a 'Homestead'
of beauty, high above the

Rings and Things
Forty words:
Eastertime ~ season for rhyme
Reading the sonnets you'll find us
And listening to crooners sing
Love Songs that delight us...
Romantic Easter ~ favourite of mine
With wintertime behind us
Tomorrow will be our anniversary
An eternity ring will remind us.

Ring Of Gold
Dear ring of gold
from past days of old
you still mean the world to me,
with glitter on show
in tone soft and low
you tell of my destiny.
Dear ring of gold
such secrets you hold
enchantment with each memory,
delight you bestow
fifty years all aglow
on your own anniversary.

A New Term Begins
Forty Word Poem:
When summer turns to autumn
There's no contentment to compare
Coolwaves replace heatwaves
New friendships linger there.
Children with leather satchels
Wander in groups to school...
For 'boy meets girl' in autumn
And a midsummer dream
Becomes an autumn jewel.

Fairy Fever
Forty words:
The fairy queen's teardrops are falling
She sneezes all summer long.
Innocent recipient of pollen
Blame histamine's fairy song.
The reason is the sunflower season
Fairy ring carnivals galore,
The scenery is really beautiful
But fairies want fever no more.

Our Fine Romance
Forty words:
Strolling along the banks of the Trent
enjoying West Bridgford air,
was prelude to unfailing romance
foreseen by prophets at Nottingham Fair.
In Robin Hood country, Sherwood,
we married decades ago...
tomorrow holds wonderful memories
August Anniversary tells me so.

That Great Galaxy Of Fame
Poetic Style: Acrostic.
Did he study for his Doctorate
Or was the degree honrary?
College boy he could have been
The star of all philosophy...
Outstanding and superior
Riding high in the field of knowledge.
Antecedent to a Nobel Prize.
Tomorrow, he may very well be
Entering into the galaxy.
