Springtime In Winter One More Time
The loveliest smile he had ever seen
fell softly upon his eyes, as he stood
near a 'springtime' beauty queen...
January was telling little white lies!
Rapturous music filled the air
as they walked along in a dream
across the foothills of Angleterre
in the country of evergreen.
His mind wanders back forty years to the
day, when he met his adorable bride,
in the month of January nineteen sixty-nine
now it's springtime in winter one more time.

She Can See The Future
Come gather your day-dreams together
The time is here to celebrate.
Feelings of love can't wait forever
Tomorrow will be too late.
Joy to be in the 'now'- not the 'never'
Whilst we are young, on a special date.
Let us meet in the summertime weather
You bring the ring to seal our fate.
Then we may reap the instant pleasure
That two hearts in love create,
And one happy day we'll walk together
Through Heaven's beautiful golden gate.

Exciting Upholstery
Acrostic:
Unbelievable talent shown by an amateur
Padding the sofa and two small armchairs
Handwork so neat on the old-fashioned suite.
Objective accomplished beyond all our cares
Leisurely work, and flaws there are none.
Selecting the colours was so very much fun.
This talent maybe used in days of recession
Economy's the word, 'upholstery' the obsession.
Regular orders, and a business could thrive...
Yes! the chosen material is about to arrive.

Cherish The Name
One sunny spring morning
as birds sang above
my thoughts seemed to stray
to a subject I love...
~ Global Warming ~
My knowledge was frugal
So I checked on Google.
And there before my eyes
Three words gave me
quite a surprise...
~ The Nobel Prize ~
In mid-twentieth century
this Prize was awarded
to an American biochemist
and his name we cherish...
~ Melvin Calvin ~
It was He who gave the world
a warning, under the title of
~Carbon and Global Warming~

Anglo-American Poet
Many great Masters have taken flight
To America, leaving this Island of green...
Satisfying life's ambition to capture
The International scene.
America may offer citizenship
With a place in the main A stream
But after a short while 'home' is calling
When many great men return to the fold
Then referred to as 'Anglo-American'
As was ordained in days of old.
One such poet from an English town
Wystan Hugh Auden,20th Century
Anglo-American Poet of much renown.

Slightly Medical
Imaginary - Acrostic
Having suffered an ache and a pain...
Yelps and yowls again and again,
Days of misery could belong to the past
Rejoice! it's 'hydrotherapy' at last.
Oh, that warm and soothing water
Together we'll exercise, darling daughter.
Happy moments are here once more
Ease of movement, as never before.
Resigned to hydrotherapy are we;
Ambition to succeed is plain to see.
Poor little doggie, he's always blue
'Yuppy' the puppy needs therapy too.

Eighteenth-Nineteenth Century Verse
France is the country of poems and prose
the lovely French language tells us so.
Romantic love in classical verse
dates back to Voltaire from days long ago.
The 18th century brought poets from Paris
writing about France and the Seine,
and so many other Parisian wonders
that lie in that fertile plain.
Yes France was a country of talent
In England, Wordsworth stole the scene
whilst Coleridge, another fine English poet
wrote lyrical verse about Pastures Green.

A New Pastime
Acrostic
Jaded and bored all the day through
Idle moments were making him blue.
Given the inclination and a forthright decision
Some suitable hobby may solve his ambition
A jigsaw puzzle could bring much joy
Wonderful for an art-loving boy.
Positive thinking and he was away.
Upholstery could wait till another day.
Zest and interest, no-one could deny
Zeal and enthusiasm hit the sky...
Lo and behold ~ the puzzle's complete
Exemplary picture of an old English Street.
