Wraithlike shadows encased my thoughts
Darkness consumed my soul, in Death's net I was caught.
Running without hope

Icy fingers of fear drew the warmth
From my very skin, surrounding me in a swarm.
Hated words from my youth come back
Taking lessons from Houdini has not helped me see the path.
So, I turn, and turn and turn
Wishing for something other than my soul to burn.
Finding no way out I turn to faith
Failed again there is no escape.
Until a hand pulls me from the pit
Only there is no body, no mouth with some ready quip.
