The Muppet Brigade (A Poem For Children)
They run around causing chaos,
they are never ever quiet.
When their teacher wants some peace,
he just listens to a riot.
They are wonderful individuals,
all fantastic when alone.
But when they get together,
the teacher’s mind is blown.
They cause mayhem on the yard,
they cause panic in the street.
If you hear those muppets coming,
we advise that you retreat!

The Sunshine Within
On bleak days, with leaden skies,
when you don't know where to begin.
Your head hurts and your heart cries,
look for the sunshine within.
After dark dreams of panic and fear,
when you almost break, almost give in.
All hope smashed, dreams far from here,
look for the sunshine within.
On foul days, with no rest in sight,
and you cannot force a grin.
Remember be calm, it will be alright,
you have the sunshine within.

The Flying Tiger (A Poem For Children)
I met a flying tiger,
with flaming, orange wings.
It hunts the flying deer,
and other aerial things.
The tiger is fierce,
powerful and strong.
It swoops through the sky,
it tail is dragged along.
I knew tigers were great jumpers,
but I never saw one fly.
Until I heard a roar above,
then I stared into the sky.
The tiger pirouetted,
it swooped and turned with grace.
It flew so high above the clouds,
it almost went into space!

Olympics, not Limpicks! (A poem for children)
My brother calls 'em Limpicks,
he hasn't got a clue.
Sticks make his javelin,
his discuss is a shoe.
My brother sez them Limpicks,
is the best thing on the telly!
As he hurdles over our pet dog,
then vaults o'er a welly.
My brother loves Limpicks,
he really is a dolt.
Sprinting round the garden,
thinks he's Usain Bolt!
My brother loves Limpicks,
sez he'll be there in 2020.
Although he's rubbish at the mo,
sez there's training time a plenty.

Hamster In A Tiger Tank (A Poem For Children)
There’s a hamster in a Tiger Tank,
I saw it driving down the street.
Despite its furry features,
crushing cars is just not sweet.
It’s firing the big cannon,
and shooting the machine gun.
It just took a shot at Tiddles,
you should have seen that kitty run.
I don’t know where it got it,
where do you get a Tiger Tank?
But it’s clear it is up to no good,
because hamster just blew up a bank.
Oh can’t anybody stop it?
The airforce, navy or army?
But when we rang they wouldn’t come,
they laughed and said “you’re barmy! ”

Compared To You
Fairground rides and joyful laughter,
toffee apples and chocolate sweet.
These are things that pale in comparison,
to our love, whene'er we meet.
Golden beaches, palm tree shaded,
azure oceans, warm breezes, such bliss.
All are wonderful, dreamlike even,
but all are bland beside your kiss.
Frozen ponds, icicle draped trees,
hot chocolate by the fire.
Diamonds in the Winter months,
but coal compared to your desire.
Summer days, when swallows soar,
and hedgerows ring with song.
Lovely days and precious moments,
but without you they seem wrong.

Cotton Candy Sky
I awoke and turned my face to a cotton candy sky.
Sun rising from its slumber, moon slowly waving bye.
Wind so still, it whispered, went dancing through the grass.
A peaceful moment, to catch in words, I couldn’t let it pass.
The frost upon my window, frozen diamonds on the pane.
I sit and watch them disappear as they’re melted by the rain.
In the distance singing, a proud songbird says good day.
I finish off my morning coffee it’s time I was on my way.
I leave this peace, this tranquil scene, I scurry to the city.
To sit, cut-off from peaceful views, I know it’s such a pity.
But at days end, I’ll travel home, steel myself against the rain.
Tomorrow I’ll rise, look to the sky at cotton candy skies again.
