Hero Dad

Every day hero that’s my dad
Picked me up when I sad
Always there to love and care
With that silver tint in his hair

Never judged me for what I done
And always loved me as his son
Now my dad has passed away
Part of my soul left that day

But still there his spirits strong
Day by day guides me along
He’s my everyday hero dad
Your always there I feel so glad

Fly Fishing

Staring at the water for that bright silver ring
Casting his line to that very spot
Hoping that it will become hot
Standing waiting without a care

When all of a sudden there it was there
Dancing and flashing in the sun
He hopes he has caught the great big one
But no this was not to be
It went and broke his line you see

With not a worry or a care
Just that silver tint upon his hair
It reminds him of the past
When he went fishing with his Dad

Hush Do Not Reveal

That unborn child wrapped up nice and tight
You and your angel are out of sight
Deep inside your mother’s womb
Your birth day will be approaching soon

That little time I spend with you
I will show you love that will be true
All these angelic things I will let you feel
As long as you promise not to reveal

That groove between your nose and lip
Was touched by your angels finger tip
To tell you hush do not say
What you have seen before your birth day

Elvaston Castle

In a Derbyshire county stands one castle grand
In all its three hundred acres of land
This gothic castle is in need of love and care
Needs no entrepreneur to rip it all bare

Wyatt designed the great gothic hall
With ceiling so high you gaze in aw
Elvaston castle claim no name to fame
But it must stay in the public domain

It needs no golf course to ruin the land
It needs no hotel to make it look grand
All that it needs is some love and care
So the people of Derby can always go there

Thistle

Thistle standing tall and proud
With its purple down all around
Leafs with prickles they will sting
But the look of elegance a majestic thing

An emblem of Scotland its colours you show
Your crown of white seeds like our mountains topped with snow
Your colour purple like the heather below
The green in your leafs is like the trees and the grass

Your picture brings memories of my Scottish past
Your roots buried deep in the land that I love
The people are friendly and can’t do enough

The Gorbals

A lad from the Gorbals
Years ago from these streets I did grow
Rough and tumble every day
Life was hard in every way

Winters dark cold and long
But from these streets I belong
Sandstone building dark with suit
Gas light lit the neighbourhood

Glasgow’s dark and dingy streets
Football played and hide and seek
Lassies dancing curly hair
We had great fun and not a care

This was all so long ago
And places change as we all know
Sand blasted building nice and clean
This is not the place of my childhood dreams

Points

Counting points every day
To try and keep my weight at bay
Low cal this low fat that
Its all to keep me from getting fat

Meer morsels appear upon my plate
Were once was full my mighty plate
Green stuff coming out my ears
I should have buckteeth and rabbit ears

The weight is dropping really slow
I have such a long way to go
Rabbit food and plate so bare
About my weight I really care

Four months down the line
Lost loads of weight and feeling fine
No more grumbling about the food
That balanced diet done me good

Hero's

Hero’s come in all shapes and sizes
Some of them are big surprises
Matters not just who they are
They come from near and some so far

Making our world a better place
To live our life in this humane race
Some don’t know just what they have done
But that hero lives inside every one

Now sit and think deep down inside
What’s gone passed in your life
The littlest thing that’s helped someone
Your their hero and now you one

Remember all our hero’s now
When at home or in your car
You can be sure one won’t be far

White Clydesdale horse

That big white horse he stands so high
And coat so white it hurts my eyes
A Clydesdale horse is the breed
Stand so proud does this stead

For weeks I just wondered why
He shows himself in my minds eye
I tell my friends what I see
It’s my granddad looking after me

A carter by trade was his game
And Clydesdale horses pulled the frame
For miles and miles through Scottish Land
My granddad went cap in hand

It nice to know he stands by me
As proud as the horse I can see
To give me strength both night and day
And guide me along the way

Cooking Recalls The Past

The steam is hissing from the spout
As the pressure cooker pushes it out
Takes my back to my childhood past
As great steam engines go flying past

Huffing and puffing plumes of smoke
You cough and splutter it makes you choke
The ground it shakes under foot
As you hear that high pitched toot

Traveling along its metal road
Its boiler bubbling to near explode
As it carries its heavy load
Driver on his footplate stood

Face covered in oil and with soot
Proud was he as was his dad
For an engine driver he was glad

Timer rings cooking done
