Our Beautiful Children….

.
Our beautiful children are dying
In Africa, Europe, the Middle East
Asia, the Americas,
And in every projects where there is no peace.
Our black children are dying
For lack of basic necessities and because of the lies
And the carelessness of their greedy leaders.
Our white children are dying
Because of the expensive weapons and the nuclear reactors.
Our brown children are dying
Because of the selfishness of the oppressors
Our yellow children are dying
Because of the savagery of the dictators.
Our beautiful children are dying,
When will they stop suffering?
We forgot that we were once beautiful children.
When will this senseless carnage end?
We should love them and protect them.
We should feed them and help them.

Who must I be,

Who must I be,
For you, to be with me?
Must I be the Taxi Driver,
So I can take you around the globe?
Must I be the Plumber,
So I can repair your bathtub?
Must I be the Surgeon,
So I can give you a younger face?
Must I be the Mason,
So I can build you a mansion,
A pool - a really exquisite place?
Must I be the Teacher,
So I can prepare you for tomorrow?
I am plunging in a deep sorrow.
Must I be the Preacher,
Like the one on the TV screen,
The sweet talker, who can really be slick and mean?
I simply want you to be mine,
So I can chat with you day and night,
So I can always be on sight,

Our Love for Haiti…

Our Love for Haiti…

Our love for Haiti
Remains steadfastly unconditional.
Our love for this beloved country
Remains obviously emotional.

For a quarter of a century,
The others did not do too much,
For this yesteryear paradise island.

For more than a dozen years,
The incompetent and spurious leaders,
The opponents and the exiled ones
Also ruled this precious piece of land.

So far, no significant improvement…
Corruption, theft, poverty,
Kidnappings, death, mismanagement
Lies, excuses and misery …

Thanksgiving Day

Thank you God for giving US
This extraordinarily blessed holiday
The turkeys are being fried, baked or roasted
The cranberry sauce is protected from the snow dust
The children are happy because their stomach
Will be plentifully filled up with healthy food
Cakes and ice cream will put everyone in a great mood
The homeless will be feasting on the deck
Happily sitting around the well garnished table
Like everyone, they dream that every day
Was as special as today, where God’s graces
Are raining gold all over the United States
This is neither a tale nor an imaginary fable
Today feels like payday, today is a joyous day.

The Wednesday before this amazing day
Should be called White Wednesday
Since the day after this day
Is notoriously called Black Friday
Thank you God for this special gift

The Last Winter Storm

The Last Winter Storm

Every year, at the scheduled arrival of March,
Mother Nature became seasonally enraged,
Like a lion, an unjustly imprisoned beast in a cage,
Like a cancer patient walking on stage
For the last time - the last baby is now aged;
Two seasons are about to crush and crash.

Every thing started with the hauling winds
Slapping their huge feathers on my windows,
Mother Nature’s heavily breathing on different rows
Of the trees that refused to be scattered all over like the sands
Of the battered beaches, like the small adoring plants,
Which the deceased grandmothers left on the slants.

Every year, it is the same old thing, the same old rituals,
The school children just love it, since all classes are canceled;
The teachers are understandably elated, because they were told
To stay home as well; the aborted duels

It Is Always a Loss When A Friend Is Gone

Brother Jackson died a few moons ago. It is a loss.
It is a finale; it is the final curtain.
Everyday is a loss, tomorrow is uncertain.
Take several deep breaths, do as many toasts
That your heart and soul desire.

Stare at the moon, walk in the sun, play in the rain, and admire
The trees, the plants, the leaves and the flowers.
Smile with, wave at, and chat with your neighbors.
Everyday is a loss; sweet moments move quicker than the thieves
Of Penzance. Appreciate and enjoy every second of the day.

The Cardiologist is in jail; it is a loss
For our community. There no winners,
Only losers. Life is short and precious.
Enjoy the plains, the mounts, the valleys and the rivers;
Never be vindictive and malicious.

It is always a loss, when you examine it deeply.
There are no winners, only losers.

My President Will Defeat Your Candidate

My President will defeat your candidate
In November.
Remember
That I told you so; I can't wait for that date.

My President is fair, competent and has common sense
My President is realistic, just and is full of intelligence.
As a matter of facts, he has destroyed many bad seeds.
He is a well disciplined man who keeps his word.
He loves the people who face the quotidian sword.
In spite of the down turn, he practices sound economic policies,
However, it is a continued gamble when dealing
With unpredictable indicators. It is like going
To the casinos of Las Vegas or to the shores of Atlantic City;
Such is the market, such is the greedy economy.
Sometimes, you win and most of the times
You lose real dollars and myriad of dimes.
At times you also lose your soul and your spleen.
The government is a facilitator; it does not create jobs,
Only the private sector can genuinely create jobs.

Malala, an Inspiring Hero

Let's stop and think for a short second, for a brief moment,
This young activist reminds me of the great Nelson Mandela.
Let's take a deep breath, wherever you are under the tent,
This well-spoken teenager reminds me of Mother Theresa.
Let's take a stroll in the park or a short trip out on the sea,
This young prodigy is for real; she is determined to succeed.
Malala expressed herself with pause, genuinely and elegantly.
She will, without a doubt, overcome, and she will not recede.

Let's gather our thoughts and make use of our common sense.
This special young lady from Pakistan reminds me of Maya,
Who was never afraid to express her thoughts and enigmas.
This daughter, who has barely crossed the bridge of adolescence,
Is poignantly amazing: she is concise, sharp, simple and clear.
Malala instinctively knows how to fight the right and perfect battle,
Which she will win without a doubt. She never intended to rattle
The enemies of progress, and the retrogrades who tried to smear
Her angelic character or to destroy her future, on the contrary,
She used her eloquence and passion for the benefit of all.
Nevertheless, Malala is an inspiring hero who will always walk tall.

My People Have Suffered …

My People Have Suffered …

My people have suffered
Before dawn and throughout the thickness of the night.
My people have been conquered
And kidnapped by innuendoes and by fright.

My people have been exploited
Under the bright light of the moon.
My people have been humiliated
Under the hellish glare of the sun.

Who are my people? They are the rejected ones
Of this society: the physically weak siblings,
Who don’t enjoy winters and springs;
The sad ones who are always under the guns.

My people will truly wake up one day,
Under the gleeful eyes of darkness.
My people will indeed rise up one day.

The Facts of Life

I have been hired
I have been fired
I have been rehired
I have been refired
I have been discriminated against
And I have learned a lot since
I have been loved
And shoved
Off the skate board
Thanks God, My Lord
Has been with me all along
That’s why I love to sing His song.

I have been wrong
And I have been right
Stay tight
I cannot be played like a ping pong
Ball
You have the gall
And I have the guts
