The body weary

I've let go today
Of hope's and dreams of yesterday

I count my days
By the breaths I take
For in those breaths

Thirteen stories high
I can almost see God,
Eye to eye
Looking across this city at night
All I can see are tiny lights
Lights of hope shining everywhere
Hope of better days to come
In the morning light they all go out
