Fatherly Advice

The dishes your room and homework are done,
It's time to rest for a while,
You go to the porch to swing on the swing,
And think about things with a smile.

You dream of the future, reflect on the past,
Then look in the sky with wonder,
Why stars in the night always shine bright,
And the moon appears as a sliver.

Things like these are yours to enjoy,
So don't let lifes problems surround you,
Just stick to the scheme and follow your dreams,
For things will turn out as they ought to.

Retirement?

Retirement is the end of work,
That's what some seem to say,
But I have talked to many more,
Who say it's not that way.

It only means you've left one place,
An now must find another,
For all that money you should get,
Is feeding someones brother.

So now that you are finished here,
We would like to say,
We're going to miss your smiling face,
And all those special ways.

You've taught us how you did so well,
And made it fun to learn,
But don't forget to call some times,
One day you might return.

Searching Inner Space

Searching now for inner space
Sure one day to find the place
What means of travel does one face
This journey from the human race

Listen sounds to tell the way
Or wait the stars to show way
Doth the soul to body say
Suppress all fears felt today

If it's thought that moves the man
Act as if your thoughts still can
God designed this travel well
So we can move through heav'n or hell

Take a trip a different kind
Open channels in your mind
Inner space you soon will find
Is god and you intertwined

A Vision Is Seen

I step from the cabin, you're standing there,
Your smile it warms, like a soft summer air,
We walk thru the forest, our minds adrift,
We look in amazement, to all of Gods gifts.

We talk of times, and places we've seen,
Imagine possibilities, of what might have been,
You see the present, I see the past,
We both see a future, and pray it will last.

A distant light's dawning, a vision is seen,
We travel and learn, and find things serene,
We now see our lives, and travel as one,
To a beginning, that greets the new sun.

Enlightenment unabated, and treasures abound,
Searching for answers, and advise that's sound,
You do your healing, and I the repairs,
To both our lives seem, to be without cares.

Fishees Underwater

Fish have many pretty colors, they live beneath the waves
Some fish seem to swim in schools while others live in caves
Some are short and some are small and some are stringy thin
Some of them are wide and tall and some just dig right in.

There's not much light beneath the waves of all our great big seas,
But all the fish don't seem to mind, they somehow still can see
Plants live down there, under water and make things seem so nice,
That all the fishes dance around and always check things twice.

Some fish swim deep down there, others they just won't
Some of them seem unafraid, but most of them just don't
Some fish have large shiny teeth, some have none at all
Some of them swim hastily, while others only crawl.

Of all the fish and animals my favorite is a star fish
If I find one on the beach, I stop and make a wish
I pick them up and throw them back, far out into the ocean
And hope they learn to not return, or repeat that silly notion.

Life Will Go On

When we were young our lives were new
Our shared romance and dreams they grew
Till that fateful day did come and finally the song was sung
But, Life Went On

It hurt and tore deep down inside, The tempest of that terrible ride
Yet slowly diligently I rose above, For life must rise as does my love
And, Life Went On

I'd lived and loved and hoped and cried, To fill my soul but no reply
To quench a fire and dream I'd held, that love and life did not unfold
Yet Still, Life Went On

Life's numbing monotony did well, Pain and feelings they were quelled
Through it all I was not forsaken, He simply had another one help me
And Too, Life Went On

I saw a life a form of rebirth, We brought 5 souls unto this Earth
They are my pride and their mothers, But now I find there is another
Oh Yes, Life Went On

I Waited So Long

I waited so long 9 months in fact, the birth it felt like an attack
I waited so long to turn my back, on childhood and 12 years intact
I waited so long to turn 16, get a car exploit the dream
I waited so long to find a girl, the one I'd love and begin a world

I waited so long to graduate, leave behind an untold fate
I waited so long to be married, no longer a child to be carried
I waited so long to learn a craft, then came along our nations draft
I waited so long to turn 21, end adolescence, adult life begun

I waited so long to be a Dad, raise a child, my heart feel glad
I waited so long to have a son, feel proud inside new line begun
I waited so long to be a grandparent, love a child and not be errant
I waited so long to get this far to find myself, with many a scar

Life's a challenge, and that's a fact, but time is short, so compact
Life goes on the wrinkles I hate, the pounds put on, just won't wait
No longer to wait, from now on I happen,
Others can wait, It's energy I'm sappin'

Misplaced Souls

Momma can you still love me my life has gone so bad
With everything you taught me all the things I had
I guess that I forgot the parts the ones you said I'd need
The words you used for me to hear I guess I didn't heed

And now I am a beggar the beggar on the street
I guess I really screwed up this time no place to rest my feet
I'm the beggar on the street the one that you pass by
Disheveled clothes and matted hair so filthy to your eye

Sometimes I wonder how I got here it all came on so fast
One day I was just like you the next I needed gas
My car is where I live sometimes and others its a shack
I know to you I'm filthy and to me you'll turn your back

The sign I carry sometimes reads that I am 'Out of work'
Or maybe it will say to you 'A vet and I will work'
They mean the same I have no cash no assets do I have
A sign that reads 'Will work for food' is all I own or have
