The Best Of The Years

My childhood was a great delight,
In fact, it was pure dynamite.
My teenage years were filled with joy,
There were the girls - I was a boy.
My middle years - beyond compare,
A pretty wife - three children fair.
And as I reached maturity,
All things kept going well for me.
And now retirement with my wife,
We have a pleasant, happy life,
With family and friends galore,
I really couldn't ask for more.
But as I sit in pensive thought,
And wonder what my life has wrought,
Which were the best of all the years,
With mostly smiles and fewest tears?
My vote to old age, I must give,
Considering the alternative!
