In front of liquor store, monday

Cars, buses spalsh puddles
to pavement far and wide
shopping carts tipped over
onto the lawn; beside
citizens wait in rain at bus
stop.
one lacks bus fare
I pay her way
I continue sitting sober
at the bus stop
in front of the liquor store

He awoke
in much the same way
he drifted into sleep
incoherently.

reaching for the milk pitcher
as he would for a beer
his head down
& expecting a full
heady brew

after dressing accordingly
in funeral attire
he looked at the mirror
in himself
at his hands
removed his watch
from his wrist
unaware the time he had
anyhow.

train station upon a spouses return.

To prove my love for you, I carved your
name into my guitar, I loved that guitar,
I loved you.

I awoke, to my alarm, my parents wishing
eachother a happy valentines day.
