Grief is a many varied thing
And variously is caused.
Grief cannot be but second place
Preceded by a love.
We do not grieve except that we
Have lost that once fond of.

Memory Is A Cheating Thing
Memory is a cheating thing-
It only strives to please,
And over bitter clouds creates
A shimmer to deceive.
Memory is a kindly thing-
It drops curtains on the past;
And through the layers of gauze is seen
Brave figurines of glass.

Eternal Grief
If grief should be complete
For one you once held dear,
Who turned a back and did you harm
And caused a numbing tear;
No more repent that grief today
Or shed that rock of fear
Than shake a spirit by the hand
Or welcome ghosts appear.

Sea-Shell Shope
She sells those sea shells
Along the sea shore
Cheaper than the sea shells
At the sea-shell store.
It's a shop-keeping nation
In a shop-keeping world.

Frost Flowers
Bits and pieces, drops of life
Falling petals, crystal moments
Stage-set in translucent glass
in the snow.
Wondrous heartshapes, sunburst rain
Disremembered, hidden glitter
Lest the petals do not last
in the snow.

The Hero Within
Limit yourself to the easy
and the difficult you'll never try.
Easys need live on the fringe of the world
grubbing for nickels and dimes,
Claiming that life has dealt a cruel blow;
crying: the fault is not mine.
Heros need training to do the grand deeds
that earn them a hero's acclaim
It's setting your eye on the hero inside,
knowing you're fair to the game.
Knowing you've got what it takes to be tough
no matter how rough life may be.
I'm a hero, I know it! When my actions show it
it's because I'm a hero to me.
