Love's Test

We teach our children never to quit.
We do so often, by words.
Yet, when things seem so bleak,
We turn our cheek on our own words,
And also the battles we face.
Children do, what children see.
Rarely what children hear.
Hoping they follow our instruction,
But never considering our own example.
When love hurts, we run.
We teach them of success in life,
But rarely of success in love.
It was love that made them.
Love will test us, try us,
And shape us to who we become.
Also, to who they become.
When love tests them,
Will they pass or fail?
That is for us to decide.

Hero

In the good times, we were made to shimmer.
In the bad times, we were born to shine.
A hero is not made in contentment,
A hero is simply defined.
He rises like a giant through the ashes.
From a structure the inferno has burned,
The ones that have hit their rock bottom.
Will rise and never return.
It is they, who are born to be leaders,
But for a time, they follow the pack.
The ones that answer their calling.
Stand up and never look back.
Inside us all there is a hero.
The one we were all born to be.
The warrior defeated in battle,
Will rise for the whole world to see.

Heaven Sent

Today I saw my angel.
Next to me, in my bed.
The one to grow through life with.
The angel that I wed.
She stuck with me, through good and bad.
Her heart is of pure gold.
I love every second with her.
A joy to have and hold.
It's so hard to describe her.
She's like a beautiful sunrise.
And I see one every morning.
When I look at her waking eyes.
Her blue eyes, when they smile at me.
My heart, it skips a beat.
And then I get a good morning kiss.
Her lips they taste so sweet.
I thank God for His blessing.
His angel that He lent.
For anything this beautiful,
I know was heaven sent.

An Easter Prayer

Insecurity in myself and lack of self esteem caused me to place the expectations on others.
I hoped they would fill me up.
Only You could do that.
I am worthy.
You made me look within
At how exactly my actions have been affecting others
Satan used this to tell me I was not worthy
But Jesus died on the cross to tell me I am.
Thank You Jesus for your gift and for always believing in me
Even before I was born
Even though I didn't believe in You or myself
I love you Jesus and thank You.
In your name.
Amen

You died on the cross for me, but you live in me today!
It makes my heart smile!

Thank You

Thank You for Your blessings.
Thank You for Your pain.
Thank You for accepting me.
Again and again and again.

Thank You for Your mercy.
Thank You for Your grace.
Thank You for Your forgiveness.
My past flaws You did erase.

Thank You for Your wisdom.
Thank You for your strength.
Thank You for you patience.
You would go to any length.

Thank You for always loving me.
Thank You for Your son.
Thank You for His sacrifice.
Thank You Your will was done.

Free Love

Caged.
Seeking out my hearts desires.
All that pass by the window to my soul,
Plant the seeds in my mind.
Desires, spreading like weeds,
Choking out the truth of my core.
Yet, I still pursue.
On a treadmill,
Getting no further ahead.
Running to stand still.
All at the expense of another.
All at the expense of my soul.
Hoarding every lie I purchase.
My soul pays the price.
A slave to my wants.
A victim to another's.
Two things given at birth.
Love, and free will.
But I must choose which I follow.
My will roams free.

Extrinsic Addiction

My extrinsic addiction,
My intrinsic affliction.
Everything for the reward.
Money and matter are my Lord.
What's fake is seen
What's real unseen.
Makes me feel unclean.
Unpure, I am obscured.
Became too weak.
Now the truth I seek.
Lies I sought.
Untruths I bought.
They cost me my soul.
Lost all control.
They took their toll.
Spiral down the hole.
Til' I hit bottom.
No longer pursuing lies.
My addiction it dies.
Slowly I rise.

Master Plan

God's plan for us is very huge,
And we are very small.
Because we are a part of it,
We cannot see it all.

We are not supposed to,
Only he does know.
For if he gave it all away,
We would never grow.

The goal's for us to be like him,
We know that God is great.
So we have to just go through his plan,
For the answers, we must wait.

When we see His big picture,
Only then will we understand.
All the pain and hurt we gave and took,
Was a part of His great plan.

The Facts of Love

Everything is only a theory,
Until it has been proven.
So what is love?
Is it found, or is it grown?

Find a partner, pick them up,
Sounds to me like lady luck.
Love can only become fact,
Once it has been proven.

I would die for love.
I would die to my ways.
True love submits to another.
True lust makes another submit.

You can only find it,
Once you become it.
Love is not what we can get.
Love is only what we can give.

Time Is My Prison

Time will keep you prisoner
For yesterday is done
Today is all you have
Tomorrow is where we run
We spend our days in then, not now
And worry about what may be
We lose our focus on where we’re at
For now, it sets us free
We cannot change what we have done
Nor can we plan ahead
For now is our only guarantee
For tomorrow we may be dead
The gifts that come we overlook
We live in our regrets
We get anxious for our future
It’s what we can’t control, we let
So it’s time to unlock that prison door
And time to set you free
Don’t worry about what could have been
It’s now that holds your key
