excitement

after a day of heartbreak
proving her love regardless
she knows her heart weak
and all only for him

and instead of shedding a tear

A Betrayal so deep.

That was for years to keep.

A trust to be earned,
that was given freely.
A love now yearned,
that was given keenly.

staring into the sun
hoping it would blind her
what's done is done
things cannot be unseen

the heat starts to burn
her face starts to redden
refusing to turn away
feeling burdened

why did she have to look?
why did she have to see?
what was she doing there?

the first time he said it
she couldn't believe it was true
she thought she was dreaming
even though she felt it too

laying in his arms
whispering it in her ear
tight against his chest
it was what she longed to hear

with a shaky voice
filled with uncertainty
all she can manage to say
is 'that's lovely'

who has her heart

wanting to do something
they've never done before
he picks her up one morning
so that they may explore

riding beside him
butterflies in her tummy
nervous about this day

the look on her face
making him nervous as well
what has he done?
