I'm betwixt the Devil and the deep blue sea,
Cause no one wants to employ me.
Why did I choose my chosen career?
Forty years ago, I was sincere.
Interested in figures I then was,
Numerical ones ~ of course.
Accounting I chose in aspects all,
Now it has become my downfall.
At Sixty-two chances are slim,
Of finding more work ~ what a pickle I'm in.
With Accounting Software geared for all,
For Bookkeeping Work ~ there is a shortfall.
Two hours work I had this week,
A new living I must seek,
Two hours will not keep the wolves from the door,
I'll cry in my boots, for an encore.

Our Rabbi ~ Dayan Ivan Binstock
The Preacher stands now in the Shul,
Before the Aron Kodesh now,
To deliver his Sermon to all
The Congregants there ~ attentive too.
Each Shabbat Morn and Yom Tov too,
He speaks Words of Wisdom, Parables two,
Mystic Insights, Worldly News,
Expressing to all, his own views.
Dayan Ivan Binstock is his name,
Who in London is a man of fame,
His Learning and Erudition too,
Delivered through his Sermons to me and you.
Fortunate are we to have him here,
In the St. John’s Wood Shul, in London town,
May he continue onwards, for many a year,
Bringing Glory to The Almighty’s Crown.

On Lag Ba'Omer 5766,
On 16th May 2006,
Under the Chupah in the St John's Wood Shul,
You begin your Nuptials before one and all.
Blessed by HE who reigns Supreme,
Casting HIS eyes on this happy scene,
Your Wedding in this Respected Shul,
Viewed by a Congregation very full.
Thoughts of the future are in your Minds,
I hope for you both they are kind,
Full of Expectations and of Fears,
Full of Happiness and Emotional Tears.

Hannie's 70th Birthday
His spirit hovered overhead,
He cast his eyes below,
On the Sunborn Yacht Hotel,
Where Family and Friends today did go.
For Aaron Silas wished to see,
That all assembled would enjoy,
The Party for Hannie's 70th Birthday,
Given for her, by their Boys.
On the Nineteenth of August 2007,
It was Hannie Silas's 70th Birthday,
And Friends and Family did gather there,
To help her celebrate her Day.

Today Is The Start Of A New Week
Today is the start of a new week,
Will I find the answers I do seek?
Will the ill-luck of the past finally go?
Will the future brighten ~ even if slow?
Three years of good fortune have now passed,
I’d hoped it would forever last,
But that’s not the way HE has for us,
HE must test our Faith, ~ in HIM ~ our Trust.
When we lie at the bottom, in despair,
Will we learn to overcome and repair,
Look up to the Future, forget the Past,
Take hold of our Lives, Let the Die be cast?
Through the Black Clouds we must go,
Daily, Weekly, not fast, but slow,
Seeking for Comfort, have Faith in HIM,
That we’ll not drown, but forward will swim.

Sixty - Two
At Sixty – Two I look towards my Future,
At Sixty – Two I look back on my Past,
Good advice was given, but I did not take it,
And now with regrets, downwards I am cast.
Why do we not listen to our Elders?
Why do we think that we know better still?
If we did just acknowledge their wisdom,
We’d live our Life according to HIS Will.
With hindsight I’d be a better person,
A comfortable Life I would now enjoy,
Retirement would be on the Horizon,
With trips to places as far as Hanoi.
But at Sixty – Two my World just fell apart,
One disaster followed the one that came before,
I now must pick up the pieces,
To stop the bailiffs knocking at my door.

Deborah, my thoughts are with you today,
Alas, I am distant from you,
But, on 5th July 2006,
I send my Birthday Wishes anew.
As an Art Historian and Portuguese Teacher too,
