Women At Augusta National & The Masters

This is the Super Bowl of golf, yes; "The Masters" is taking place,
And this week a million women will have a rearranging of their face,
Husbands, boyfriends, johns, black eyes, broken nose, busted lips,
Main concern at Augusta National, will a female get a membership?

Priorities are pushed aside or were they ever there in the first place?
Focus on golf as women by untold millions are abused is a disgrace,
Rory, Hunter, the top players in the world, the likes of Tiger & Phil,
Drugged & knocked up in a back ally, there's the morning after pill.

Most women still do not get equal pay along with plenty of disrespect,
Rule of thumb for sponsorship to IBM because they write the check,
Whomever the CEO, a membership at this prestigious golfing venue,
Yet the current boss is Ms. Virginia M. Rometty so, something new?

Announcements about everything from sand traps to the wet greens,
And still no word from this exclusive private club what does it mean?
After all, the men who belong were they not brought about via birth?
Come on ladies, if these guys don't want you, what is it really worth?

Jeremy Henwood (In Memorial) Uncommon Valor In Peace & War

Wow! San Diego, California not Detroit, New York, Chicago or LA,
Unprovoked attack on a proudly worn blue uniform shatters the day,
Completed tours of combat duty one in Afghanistan and two in Iraq,
This USMC Captain gunned downed stateside via a cowardly attack.

Whenever there is police intervention many will play the race card,
Viewing a security camera from McDonald's restaurant it's not hard,
Given the lighting inside at the counter & outside the sun did shine,
It's easy to see that this hero in uniform was completely colorblind.

'Officer Friendly' is a term rarely associated in Black neighborhoods,
As law enforcement is hardly meant to portray anything that is good,
Tell that to Daveon Tinsley 13, who entered Mickey D's short of cash,
He was dime short as the cop opened his wallet & used his own stash.

You never get a second chance to make a first impression, oh how true,
However, kindness from the, 'good guys' is neither rare nor is it new,
Yet if the video equipment wasn't working this story would have died,
And without the proof if the kid retold the deed it he'd be telling a lie.

Scout's Honor, The Pope & The Football Coach

Oh wow! Seems like every channel has the exact same story,
The most storybook football program has tarnished it’s glory,
At the Mighty Penn State where the winningest coach resides,
Amidst allegations of child sexual abuse the emotions runs high.

Did he or did he not, why wasn’t more done to help protect?
Those in a program designed to rise above hurt and neglect,
Started by an assistance coach whose job was the defense,
Not designed to recruit the adolescent under false pretense.

Joe Paterno has the most football wins by a college coach,
Supposedly his 2 national title program is above reproach,
But, just like the sex abuse scandal within the Boy Scouts,
Along with that powerful Catholic Church, better look out.

The names of the innocent victims abused are at least nine,
And amazingly over a known period of 12-15 years time,
Not through innuendo, hearsay or speculation it was seen,
Yet like the Catholic Church more important was the green.

Give It To The Lord & The Rest Is History

I wonder if my child will be home on time,
After cousin Shari-Danielle’s graduation party?
I want a thirty-speed Schwinn racer is that a crime?
My report card does say twenty-two times tardy.

Hey, made a fantastic new friend today,
This person really makes me feel great,
Am I getting my hopes built up right away?
Time to go to work, can’t afford to be late.

I just adore that stylish new Chrysler 300 Hemi,
Wow, I would absolutely love to own that house,
Will I ever be able to afford a nice one, there’s so many?
On only one income since I do not have a spouse?

Seems like our minds and innermost working thoughts,
Are always on what we could or should have bought,
What we prized then turned around and now it’s lost,
Unable to forget years later we are still paying the cost.

A Pastor + His Son + Their Girlfriend = Murder

Pastor in the pulpit, the Sanctuary, supposedly holier than thou,
Preachers wife is gunned down in cold blood, Ka-boom, Ka-pow,
Reverend’s son, a prior relationship, shoots step mom in the head,
Three on trial for murder might be more than the one already dead.

A love triangle and as any third grader can enlighten you in math,
Different kinds of geometrical shapes & they cannot be cut in half,
And yet this situation has added one so now it‘s more than plenty,
Tracy Bernard Burleson 46, at the time William Darnell Fuller 20.

Shared the same sexual encounter, Tyonne Marie Palmer-Pollard,
Here a lie there lie the trial’s underway, as all three were collard,
Tracy claims he & the Mrs. had an argument, he left to get chips,
There were no snacks but pastor said it already through his lips.

But that particular store closed before he got there which was at 10,
Maybe it was his guardian angle who picked the lock and let him in,
Okay, but what about the honey bee who was active with both men?
As Pauletta Burleson’s shot execution-style courtroom drama begins.

Childhood Remains Within

Where are the younger years and how dare they not remain?
Fleeting, as the flowerbed seems like it went before it came,
Usually a constant traced that can never be erased by time,
Until black/brown turns to gray, clouds covering up my mind.

The juvenile days of marshmallow roasts abandon the stream,
From a paradise bound to be a forest forever no longer green,
Where poets remain like Anacondas, silent enchanting rhyme,
Yet everything must yield to Mother Nature, even Father Time,

As nightingale and robin join in one chorus to usher the moon,
Ocean’s reflect the glory of a blue horizon the sun is too soon,
Their harmony combines where no other species might refuse,
If it was downtown Chicago you would swear it was the blues.

The energy I spent in games never won has never been lost,
Everything I did rewinds with me like a dream there is a cost,
Gained experiences from childhood that I can proudly boast,
At a midnight sandbox I repelled Casper the Friendly Ghost.

Whine & Cheese (Pray For Ron Menifee)

I know two people, who will be known as A & B,
It’s really amazing how so different they perceive,
A’s a complainer, he’ll drive you out of your mind,
B’s calm as ever, oh, did I mention that he is blind?

The day before traffic court B tragically lost his sight,
Thrown into the pit of forever experiencing only night,
Arrested after 3204 free days,1 day in jail he’s cut loose,
B was fined $396.00 because, “blindness is no excuse, ”

B’s bills are mounting there’s seemingly no end in sight,
This is not a play on words it just happens to be his life,
For the several years I’ve known him he’s still very cool,
Folding red and white constant companion is his only tool.

A on the other hand is about to inherit a six figure windfall,
To most people this is great but to him it is kind of small,
Retirement, maybe a lawsuit, no, real estate worked the deal,
Whatever the reason is not important, for him it’s a free meal.

Louis Maxwell (In Memorial)

LaVena Lynn Johson and Pat Tillman, is there still another story to tell,
Well, ponder the “friendly fire” assination of U.N. Guard Louis Maxwell,
That’s so right, exactly like the first two it was murder in the first degree,
In mathmatical terms a murder, plus a murder & one more murder = 3.

However, what makes the latter more astonishing is that there is a video,
And not almost, or slighty, even a maybe, the actual shooting it will show,
Articles in the news media claims Louis “may” have died from friendly fire,
Oh, “the disturbing possibility” that a U.N. staff member accidently expired.

I have seen enough ganster movies to know what is a, “murder for hire, ”
Only heard of Pat Tillman’s but no doubt this was not any, “friendly fire, ”
The biggest question is why these incidents are being kept under wraps?
Here’s another funeral for a brave American as the bugler plays, “Taps! ”

This happened October 28,2009, today is April 22,2010,6 months later,
His heroic actions saved seventeen lives okay, how come all the haters?
Have a question for you, had Louis’s killing not been available on video,
May there be discussions going on now from an incident we didn’t know?

Police, Fire & EMT

It's another New York City morning early in the day,
Peace is solemnly interrupted as panic breaks away,
Not once but twice, two planes level the Twin Towers,
Years planning & building destroyed in less than an hour.

It takes heart to swim in the Big Apple's deep waters,
Fathers, mothers, husbands, wives, sons and daughters,
Most ran away before, definitely after the explosion & fire,
Not the Dedicated Public Servants, faithfully climbing higher.

However many years earlier the Police, Fire, EMT exam,
A pledge to serve on the job doing the very best they can,
Looking forward to retirement after their years on the job
No one thought about 9/11, retirement days being robbed.

I overheard a hero's nothing but a sandwich on day old bread,
Tell that to the survivors better known now as the walking dead,
A sworn oath under all circumstances to give nothing but the best,
Rising to the occasion New York's Finest proudly passed the test

Jamie Leigh Jones Protected By Whom? The USA?

Not a thing on television, no book to read, chillin comfy at home?
Google & ponder the case of KBR employee Jamie Leigh Jones,
Left alive it’s another unbelievable story, heartbreaking & intense,
Doctors took photos, a rape kit, however security lost the evidence.

Offered a drink by co-workers, a couple of sips, out like a light,
Repeatedly penetrated back and front, unable to put up a fight,
Bam! Headache! She awakened with blood all over her thighs,
A victim screaming out for justice & no one answered her cries.

Called her father, who called his congressman, everyone appalled,
More calls, inquiries, like PFC Johnson; her case too has stalled,
There’s a term for negative situations like this; it’s the X-factor,
Not only the Army to blame but what about the KBR Contractor?

Her fellow Americans felt Jamie Leigh was just prey on the menu,
Safe under the guise of government protection at their Iraqi venue,
Alien or resident, civilian or military, rape & murder is still a crime,
Death penalty, life without parole, yet the victims are doing the time.
