Become More Tall

There is much to learn from a Red Dirt sunset
They are many visual rewards for one and all
When you walk a lake side with many flowers
Peace surrounds you as you become more tall

Like your assigned path of life, it always seems
There are twists and turns not straight or true
But as we traveled on down though the sunset
We avoid the obstacles that were made for you

No Food Today

The monster ice storm has covered the land
Cause of the ice there will be no food today
So all the farm animals will have to just wait
Til the sun returns and melting is underway

The ice provides beauty on all red dirt roads
As it blankets all barns and every lonely tree
But farm animals in many ice covered fields
Will wait for their food even if they disagree

Rainy Mountain

Step back in time.. See the 1909 Football Team
Look into faces and see how they used to dream
Kiowas and early Pioneers on the same porch
For these are the people who carried the torch

Native Americans trained in the law on a horse
These are the men who established our course
For these are the people that lead the way
To help make Oklahoma a great State today

3 Trees

Down by the North Canadian south of Route 66
Sunset memories in my soul come flooding back
Glorious colors, from deep turquoise to hot pink
Fill the western sky while the wild ducks quack

For this is a special place to unwind and enjoy
The natural beauty provided for my dreamland
A sunset and a simple tree can be so wonderful
I am happy and glad I live in such a great land

Governor's Mansion

In Oklahoma where state pride reigns supreme
From the Governor's Mansion to football fields
This new state has much moxie and excitement
Where much beauty is available for windshields

We all worked together and made our Mansion
That special place to host goverment with pride
Walls filled with history and early day memories
Items that will serve future Okies as their guide

Started to Fly

Every morning I try to travel some red dirt roads
I always listen closely to what they have to say
Normally red dirt roads are very safe to travel
Until one morning a motorcycle started my way

My guiding voice said this may be your end
You my friend have traveled your last mile,
All of a sudden the motorcycle started to fly
As it flew over my head, all I could do is smile

Big Sky Fishing

Listen very closely and hear that distant splash
Maybe just a big catfish moving out of his nest
When the golden rays of a sunrise hit the water
Time to pull one in because it's fishing at its best

Memories of big sky fishing come flooding back
When I think on my historical family traditions
For this brings to me inner peace and much joy
Big Sky Fishing happens without any conditions

Always Available

Some red dirt cowboys know how to cook beans
All red dirt cowboys know how to rope and tie
Some red dirt cowboys can even make a quilt
But one thing they won't ever do is say good-bye

So try to imagine life on the Oklahoma red plains
With early settlers making their dreams come true
Early red dirt cowboys had the best of all worlds
They were always available to love and protect you

Wild Pink Roses

There laying hidden against a late summer hue
With green trees shutting out most of their view
Yon can feel the color of wild roses where they lie
As if they were following with a pentrating pink eye

There roots grow in red dirt which is always bright
There leaves become small beacons of a green light
Their feelings can be felt from your head to your toes
There's nothing more beautiful than a wild pink rose

Red Dirt Cows

Inquisitive cows in a red dirt pasture with a train car
It is a special sight to enjoy even when you travel far
It seems almost like going home for I have been told
Therefore will continue to travel on this red dirt road

By looking left, looking right, and maybe southwest
Wih my digital camera ready to photograph the best
And if the creeks continue to stay within their banks
I will find more red dirt for which I will give thanks
