An old friend called the other day.
They didn’t have very much to say,
But simply sat and held the phone.
And so, it wasn’t very long
Till I had slipped away.

There was a girl who’d found a dime,
And thus the bells began to chime.
She brought herself some candy,
And thought that it was dandy.
She thought it was sublime.

There was a star that shone so bright—
Gleaming in the darkest night.
It was seen from shore to shore
Until one day, it was no more;
The star fell from its height.

Once there was a gal named Priscilla,
'Pon wedding, she was called Cinderella.
But she was heard in a room
Just a fussing at her groom,
And her name was quickly changed to Bridezilla.

The Fog Creeps
Lighter than a feather;
On the wings of morn,
The fog creeps
With a silent tone.
From the skies
Onto the ground,
It touches the trees
And all around.
And, so, with marvel—
We tend to admire
The fog's ability
To inspire.

A Cold Grey Wintry Day
On this cold, gray-wintry day,
The sun is nowhere to be found.
Listen! I hear the rain:
Pit pat, pit pat—dripppppp, plop.
Pit pat, pit pat—dripppppp, plop.
Like a sad song, its music play
To the melancholy lyric of:
“A Cold, Gray Wintry Day.”

A Packrat
Storing this,
And storing that.
Why be such
A packrat?
Clutter here,
And clutter there.
Piles of clutter
Everywhere.
Furniture, clothes,
Boxes, beads:
Stuff you don’t
Even need.
Always on a
Shopping spree,
But naught canst thou
Take with thee.

It’s Okay to Rest
In a fast-paced world,
Trying to stay on top,
You push, push, push—
Push until you drop.
Trying to take advantage
Of every op—
Determined to let nothing
Hinder or stop.
You work, work, work;
Work up lots of stress.
But just remember—
It’s okay to rest.

The Fog Returns
Today the fog returns,
As betimes it does—
Quietly settling in,
‘Fore one could know it was.
The streetlights glisten
Through the misty haze,
With emitted ambience
That readily amazes.
But soon the fog will lift
And silently creep away,
To mysteriously return
Again some other day.

Fish Live in the Ocean
Fish live in the ocean.
They do not live on land.
I’m not sure they’d want to,
Even if they can.
Fish would have a time
Tunneling through sand.
Then there’s the predator—
Which is man.
Fish love their environment,
Which is to us—bland;
And they're better in the ocean—
Not on land.
