Long Live Madhu And 'Minkey
Madhu wrote a wonderful poem
named 'Jungle for sale', in her class
If Madhu is not writing a poem
like this, especially by a girl
who is living and studying in UK,
who else will write it.
Madhu went with her friend Mary for shopping
She wanted to buy a baby Kangaroo leaping;
Fortunately there were no elephants,
she can't tie in her yard, the jungle elephant,
she can't also feed the white elephant;
she bought a baby monkey,
He is quiet with rap-around arms and tail,
He will be hereafter called 'Minkey';
Long live Madhu and 'Minkey'
with her sister Nivi and Pinky.

I Became Grandma
My daughter carries the child firm
In her womb for ten months term;
Like a pearl kept in the shell, the child
grows to be delivered into the world;
Head, chest, abdomen, hands and legs grow
along the internal organs with heart and brain;
I feel longing to see the face of the child
the first appearance in to the world;
I count the days to hug softly
And kiss the baby soothingly;
The beautiful moon has slipped down
Came to the earth upside down;
The doctor and nurse attended delivery
My daughter delivered a female child;

Learning language, grammer and accounts
Learning language, grammer and accounts
are important parts of education those days,
taught by well respected teachers in any place!
Experienced and learned people are necessary
to solve the disputes amicably in any society
among the congregation of members of the community!
People should have the quality
of 'give and take' sharing policy
of food with the neighbours!
(Thirikatukam 10)
Any such place WITHOUT
the following three
1.well respected teachers,
2. the experienced and learned people
to solve the disputes and
3. the people who have
'give and take' sharing policy

Of Getting A Female Child...!
My mother dreamt of a boy child
While she was carrying me
in her womb;
Alas! I was born! A female child,
My father has to save a portion of his salary
For my marriage to settle with the dowry;
While I attained puberty,
My father spent a portion
To make his savings empty;
I have to forgo my dream
Of my college degree and
Settle with higher secondary;
Nowadays I find lot of photos
Of eligible bridegrooms
Spread over my shelf;

Looking Others For Alms For Living
Instead of being a self-disciplined person,
If a person, with a mean mentality
and low calibre in his earlier birth,
-with his power, muscle, money and men -
had embraced the shoulders of some others' wives
with ornamental marks painted large rounded breasts,
he is born in this birth neither man nor woman wholly,
losing the power and might, unable to unite with woman
looking others for alms for living and ridiculed by everybody!
(naalatiyaar poem No: 85)
This original tamil poem
was written during 7 th century:
I tried to translate this in such a way
that there should not be vulgarity in anyway!

I Touched The Rainbow In The Sky!
I had a dream in a rainy day,
I was watching up the evening sky,
My mummy was standing by my side,
My daddy was lifting me so high,
Over the shoulder all the while!
My dream takes me up and up,
My mummy is accompanying me
towards the moon against the rain,
My elder brother too encourages me,
who is five years elder to me!
He also gives a helping hand,
The rainbow also bows its head,
He pushed me up with his might,
I was flying like a kite,
Now I can touch the rainbow!
I woke up from my dream,
I am, now, lying on my bed!

They wait for the next day to dawn
Dark clouds assembled in the sky,
Peacocks enthused and happy,
The flow from waterfall makes shower noisy;
The crystal clear feathers of bees
Ringing with reverberating noises
Around the flowers in the bushy plants;
The shining early sun-rays fall on hills and lands
Make them green and enchanting everybody's minds
Recollecting their past happiest days;
The grazing cows and calves happily munching grasses
The men who controls the animals singing and chatting
Return to their shelter in the evening;
The animals chew and dream for the sunrise
The men ate supper, went to sleep peacefully,
Anxiously they wait for the next day to dawn.

Give Up Smoking Tobacco
A traveller walks with crutches,
passing by me with one leg stretches,
Other leg amputated above the knee,
Enquired I, Why? How?
Said he, one toe became black,
Reduced blood circulation to the little toe
and circulation to adjacent toes
also getting cut;
The history is that he was a smoker
of Beedi - rolled tobacco leaves -
Smoking of Beedi leads to narrowing of blood vessels
supplying the toes, results in clotting of blood;
The toes get gangrenous,
tissue death extends towards the hip
necessitating in amputation
of toes to midthigh;

Super Sweet Angel Fish
My dear grandchild
A girl of three plus, born in Reading
Lives with her sister, Madhumitha
Speaks Good British English
With good vocabulary;
She asks me frequently
What is time now?
My reply is 8 AM or 10 PM
She asks with a nasal twang
Do you say 'One hundred'...!
While I put a question to her,
She thinks and tells the answer.
To complete the sentence,
She tries to find the suitable word....
And... And... fits the suitable word;
Who studies in
Wellington Primary School, Hounslow

O'.. There Comes My Fiancee!
All the teen boys playing in the street
Stop their play and suddenly turn into adult!
On that street side in the fading sunlight …! !
Even the swaying elderly men
Tries to steady them throwing the stick!
On that street side in the fading sunlight …! !
The ape which jumps tree to tree
Made its mind to sit on the wall watching!
On that street side in the fading sunlight …! !
Even the drivers of speedy vehicles stop
And look keenly at the sides of speed breaker!
On that street side in the fading sunlight …! !
All the teen age girls are disgusted,
And discouraged at their sight on the platform!
On that street side in the fading sunlight …! !
