We’re Home
Pray with me
At the botanical garden,
Stay with me this weekend
As we breathe our yoga of devotion.
I fell in love with you
As I placed my mat next to yours
And we drank clear water
Of reverence and hope.
Let’s sit on the terrace
And give thanks for each other,
Express gratitude for our lives,
Let us find God in each other’s eyes.
I could weep with you in the rain,
Smile with you in the sunlight
Touching your hair graced by summer flowers,
Share fruit with you walking along a city street.

We Were Made For This Desire
I will be king of the flowery paths,
I will walk with you among the gardenias,
We’ll be barefoot among fragrant fields,
We’ll unclothe ourselves like ancient gods and goddesses,
We’ll kiss body parts that tremble with delight,
Once again we will have innocent eyes
Perpetually seeing love.
Our memories transcend these limited days
Of our current stay,
We are connected to the eternal lovers
From every distant age,
We’ve groped each other in wine vineyards
That served Caesars,
We’ve made love amid the chaos of war
From Alexander to Napoleon,
We were made for this desire
That neither water nor raging fire
Could ever extinguish or expire.

Girls as Exquisite as Exotic Tattoos and Hieroglyphics
The day we finally meet
It will be raining softly
On grey and lonely urban streets,
The last dangling autumn leaves
Will fall from shivering November trees.
Perhaps, we’ll gaze into each other’s eyes
At a Buddhist book store
Where the incense burn
Slow and sweet.
We have mystical steps to take
As we journey into mystery.
It can take a multitude of lifetimes
Before certain souls reunite,
And love can only be realized
After making it safely through
The forest of emotional confusion.
I’ve been playing on this playground

Talisman and Adulterous Dreams
The gypsy mistress
Reads mystical cards
And delineates the future.
With a conspiracy of dark magic,
She entrances my soul
Navigating a life of sorrow.
Her earlobes are ornamented
With gold earrings
That cast a soft glow in the moonlight
Until I’m hypnotized
With adoration
For her undeniable charms
And her power
To shape destinies.
I beg her for a talisman,
I have to make
An arduous journey
Through a valley
Of thieves and intense heat.
I promise to return

Nightmare Inner Vision
Dark birds gather at my grave
Trying to unearth the remains of my defeat;
The hills bleed with disease,
No one will survive;
All the dreamless eyes
Are cold pools of cruelty
That plot brotherly demise,
And everyone collects
Battlefield coins
From the disrespected dead.
Ministers of the perverse
Pay allegiance to pornographic plans
To destroy innocence and decency,
Create a serfdom of the damned!
Even flowers innocently placed
In young girls’ hair,
Turn into razor blades
Slitting the wrists of love.

Fragile Heartbeats and Sensuous Mouth
If I close my eyes,
I can see you in a floral dress,
Happy and smiling;
I fall in love with you
All over again
Like the world is new.
I go to the autumn park
Where we used to walk
And I still hear
Your delicate footsteps
Softly touching fallen leaves,
That is the way languorous memories,
Sad and sweet, return to me.
But I’m on my way
To exhilarating, original dreams
Never seen before
In the cinematic landscape
Of my mind.

Frailty Of All Creatures
When I was a young driver,
Fresh behind the wheel,
I saw a bird fly beneath a driver’s car
Ahead of me.
Her wings were broken
And her body badly damaged.
She flapped without hope
On the hot July street.
When I approached her,
I ran her over;
I cannot be sure
Accidentally or purposely.
I began to cry
And pray to St. Francis,
Poor little bird!
But I thought,

Her Toenails Painted Pink
I dream I’m in a Parisian café
With a dark-haired girl
Wearing a yellow skirt revealing
Photographic sensual legs
That would later make me cry
All night in bed still pondering them.
I have so many of these
Intoxicating fantasies,
Massaging her delicate feet
And kissing her toes
With her toenails painted pink.
But then I find myself alone somewhere
On an impoverished street,
And I mostly see old ladies or poor kids
Riding their bikes on weed-infested sidewalks,
And I don’t reject but relish and celebrate the contrast,
It is all the poetry of God’s scattered
Beautiful humanity,

Touched Her Face
I pray beneath streetlights
To find the light within myself;
I kiss holy books and letters she wrote
In the belief that life is sacred mystery.
Every day is an unknown journey;
Maybe our life will remain routine,
Maybe we will veer off into a nightmare or dream.
Perhaps, I’m shallow:
I only want to listen to music
And to smell the fragrance of her hair,
To exist in a place of flowers.
Anymore, I’m always on the verge tears
For no definable reason
And I can no longer discern
If I’m happy or sad.
If I disappear tomorrow,

In The Corner Swept
If I see you on the dirty street
Hovelling in the rain
With a broken shoe,
I promise, I won't be one
To gaze the other way.
Even when my song is unsung
And there is nothing to be heard
Other than funeral dirges,
I don't lose hope
In the happiness I've known.
The days are long
And the night sky pitch black
When I realize in my soul
You've been gone too long
And you won't be back.
I'm a respectable man;
There's nothing I ever asked of you
