With Love to John
With love to John
I remember the day John Lennon died
I stopped the car
and inwardly cried
On the side walk in a splash of blood
lay a crumpled body
where greatness once stood
for us he asked to give peace a chance
still we watch television war
with barely a glance
Imagine, he gave us Diamonds in the Sky
all we gave him return
was the Catcher in the Rye
