Sadhasivam Falls In Andhra

In a tranquil morn
we tramped over the moors.
“ Where are those tweeting birds
and the animals striking awe? ”
We trudged through the jungle
minding not the twingle at our feet.
The cloudy clime and moist
paralysed our lungs.
We hurried through the tunnel of plants
and we had the sun our hope.
With sweating ascent and steep descent,
Our hope to see the feet of the Lord weakened.
We trod on one another’s heels
and our transistors allayed our fears.
On rocks at times we sat for rest
and walked and walked exhausting snacks.

“ O what a cascading falls
glittering near the abode of God! ”
someone cried and surged over the vale.

Nicked My Heart, You Thief!

A stocking mask- worn culprit,
came on a bike from behind,
snatched my chain and sped away.
I worried much for my unkind fate
and sat sleepless through the night.
To my surprise, I found it placed
on the porch of my house in the morn.
“O my parrot, tell me! Who is that
naughty one playing mischief?
It repeated: ”‘That one! That one! ”

A month later, I was shocked to find out,
my scooter missing, on coming out of a bank.
I lodged a complaint at the nick, though,
I had no hope of getting my vehicle back.
Good Heavens! I found it back,
on the porch in the morning.
“ O my parrot, tell me that someone,
who robs my things and brings them back,
to give me sweetful shocks! ”.

Don't Hie Yourself to the Hideout.

Why you dear, vanished from my sight?
If honest words hurt your heart
then hot springs burst from the snowy mountains
must also harm human folk.
Right advice will be sour to taste
but once chewed, haste won't throw you into waste.
Your mind curtseyed to hypocrisy
but turned off from melting mercy.

The gleaming stars going dim at early dawn,
come back with cheerful looks in the coming night.
The flowers shut their petals in the chill evening,
open and smile in elegance in the morn.
The birds welcoming the dawn with chirps,
do the orchestra again in the birth of next day.
The animals quenching their thirst leave the pond,
with gratefulness and trace the trails back to the spot.
The seasons bid bye not to die
but to revive again with spirit and verve.
The turtles hibernate for half year and wake up back

The Hypocrites in the garb of Activists

A man violating the rights of weakerfolk
ascends to be the activist for human rights!
Mobile brothel-keepers and suppliers to bosses,
form the forum for rights with feasts to beasts,
to keep away from the sensing cops.
Democracy stinks! Pooh!
He transgresses the limits of decency
when the Schoolheads deny him access
to hook the pike among the lady preachers.
When his party is in rule,
no one can rule over him.
He can make smear campaigns against the teachers
but the rules bound dumb have to bear the slime.
`Transfers’ to HRA- starved places silence them
and the officers too don’t like legal wrangles.

Sleazy reporters are pawns in his hand.
They drink and eat what he gives
and concoct tales as he dictates
to maul the honest with deep wounds.

Devastation around Pattadakkal (Karnataka)

Are they spectres from the alien planet
to the wet tracts of Satavahanas
for braving the inundating floods
and weeping over the loss of crops?

The paddy fields have been layered with mud
and the rotten ground nuts are smelling bad
The darkened stems of sugar-cane go waste
and water is not receding in haste.

People dump their refuse on the narrow road
where the cattle stand awaiting fodder.
People thresh and winnow for some grains
and the children sow tears in pangs of hunger.

How will these tillers tide over the year?
There the buses too don’t tread in fear.
The vegetables hesitate to pour in
and the nude kids sell curd in earthen jars.

Those Obscene Moments!

“ In multifarious roles,
she displays her talents
but they don’t give her an award.
In one film, she kills a lagerlout
tempting him to swig poisoned drinks.
In another she laments
Over her past sinful life.
She is a lascivious servant
in many a movie.
She would launch out often into crimes
and land up in police stations.
Her leer pulls the young and old
again and again to theatres squalid.
She is a mountain of flesh making
all the eyes longing and not blinking.
Fit for an international award! ”,
My friend lectured taking no break.
“ Please be calm for a while.
First I see that heroine in the film
and tell you then if she is fit”,

Sethu Ocean Project(TamilNadu, India)

To shorten the sea-trade route
and export goods and expand trade,
the stone-bridge across the Palk Straits
off the town of Rameswaram
needs to be cleared away.
But some superstitious men
trade tirade against the Project
and stop carrying on the work.

The stones might have been laid
in ancient days by the Tamil Kings.
But these religious bigots
argue with fictional stories
that it was built by Rama
with the help of Hanuman's forces.
Whoever could have built it
but what use the people have
within the sea the bridge to save?

When Katchativu Islands

A University Library

The portraits of the former
Vice – chancellors
are hanging on the walls
with looks aghast
as the young scholars
are sitting on the chairs
like stones and idols
while in their minds
some girls who are Ph.Ds in foreign culture
are roaming like gleaming heroines.

Shakespeare and Kamban,
the Koran and the Bible,
the Kural and the Vedhas
the encyclopaedias
are dusty being unmoved from the racks
as the eyes of the boys
stick to have a good browse
at the smiling faces
passing through the gates

My Senseless Advice To Those Disappointed In Love

When a requited love becomes refuted,
the cuties fall in agony deep;
from which to raise them is very difficult.
Some lose their life-breath with no love to die.
Some enter fire by cursing those behind their end.
What a pity! They fail to taste the experience
of finding mirth in gloom in this life.
A flashflood of sorrow devastates gentle hearts.

New blossoms burst in every Spring.
Fresh waters flood the rivers and make them again hale.
The waves which have no strength to hit the shore
regain energy and repeated efforts make and embrace.
Life once gone is gone for ever;
But love flowers again and again and it dies never.
Attempting suicide is the arms of the cowards.
Living till the end, crossing all the hurdles bring heartfelt rewards.
Why not refurbish and renovate your hearts with a fresh love?

Many -a-dog roam around with lolling tongues.

Blessings of the Lord at Amarnath (Jammu & Kashmir-India)

I saw on video the pilgrims
climbing up towards Amarnath,
cheering the name of the Lord.
The music of a mesmeric song
took me off and made me one of them!

“ The sozzled boozers extracting money
even from the hardcore atheists
and exhaustisng the idol of Lord Vinayaka
by carrying Him through all the lanes
have come up the mountains to prostrate before You.
“They will be the first to be blessed”, I said.
“ The dolly-bearers of a different faith
and the dog-tired, impounded ponies
who carry the weak in this tract are the first”,
a divine voice from the vales around I heard.

“ I’m sure, the ascetics whose souls aspire
to a seat at the feet of the Lord
but their bodies perspire swimming in the sea of lust,
