In your shoes..! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
After I laid my heart bare to you,
When the logs had almost burnt out
You calmly said ‘you got your dues’
I felt like a child chastised, ' how can you
Pass judgement'… but you just did,
Well ensconced in your new shoes…
A tall stem of yellow lily in my vase
seems to say forgive and let go,
sorrow shared is not always halved.

Son, Step Out Of Cyberspace
Son, the world
Is outside your room,
Not in the cyberspace
You keep surfing
All day through.
Step out
Take a deep breath,
And see with your eyes,
How beautiful it is,
Full of mystery,
Go and explore,
Live life,
For you
Only live once.
Don’t let it
Pass you by,

A Shift in Perception-3
At times,
I feel abandoned
Lord.
After a while,
There
Is s shift in perception:
When
My son
On hearing me,
Crying
At midnight,
Comes rushing
With concern
In his eyes.
And holds me
Tight,

Love- is it a Buisness Deal...
Love
I used to believe
Is not a
Business deal.
It does not
Weigh
Profit and loss
It was for keeps
To share
Joys and grief
But now
Things have changed
Before signing
On the marriage certificate
Couples
Sign a pre nuptial contract

Marriages are not made in heaven! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
You smile at me gazing deep in my eyes
From the picture I pinned on the soft board.
As I untangle my wet hair and hurriedly blow dry,
Tying into a knot with pins, rush out on road
To catch 9 AM metro after all night work;
It’s Monday, deadline for a cover story
On long distance marriage; board and smirk
You can make it work, with trust, commitment.

Seekers! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Wandering aimlessly
At twilight on the beach,
When the fishermen go home
After a day’s catch
To the market place.
And children
Too joyfully,
After playing ball
And gathering sea shells.
The moon is covered
By the clouds,
Stars
Are invisible
To the eye.
Sea seemed to beckon;
Could it be…?
It too was lonely

Match maker- monsoon! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
His curly hair wet, drip
After a shower from the skies;
Takes shelter under a bridge.
A girl halts the car,
Will you give me lift?
I live close by, she grins…
Come on, hop in
Where is your rain gear?
She asked as she steeered.
Exchange a look
Then look away.
Trees sway...
Will you come for coffee
Or is someone waiting for you?
Hurriedly, no nobody.

I am not Destiny's favourite child
I may not be
Destiny’s favourite child,
But I have no doubt
I am one of a kind.
Of my imperfections
I am not blind,
But in my strengths
I do take pride.
I am what I am
I have nothing to hide.
I am my favourite
Even I am surprised.
Don’t be narcissistic
My elders sermonise.

A Passing Thought
The train
Moved,
And
In no time
We
Were out
In the countryside.
Pink clouds
Dotted the evening sky.
Far out,
Paddy fields.
Smoke
Billowing out
Of the chimneys.
Dim lights
In the cottages
Of sparsely populated
Villages.

Dissonance
To be or not to be
Was the dilemma of Hamlet.
To kill or not to kill
Had Arjun in torment.
To cross or not to cross
The Lakshman rekha was Sita’s constraint.
To accept or not to accept PM’s post
The fear of backlash made Sonia relent.
To send or not to send
My grand child to school is making me dissonant.
As there is too much
Angst and social discontent.
