Quiet Thunder
The whisper comes
so close
feather light
on my face,
warm
to my cheek,
a low
Quiet Thunder.
Whispers
are where intimacy lives
where moments freeze
where time is mesmerizing;
all faculties
peak;
alert
anticipating another
whisper-leaf tone
falling
to my ear

A Paper Rose
Each time pen and line
brush the page
it is with you in mind;
all these years
you've been
reader to my writer-
you and I
giving life
to what starts as
mere blank pages-
and end as

A Pirate Hooks
My craving lands like a pirate horde
grappling onto my fleeing ship
swinging on ropes
til they board
in critical numbers
large enough
to overwhelm
my resistance.
They all have the same face
and while my sword is sharp and swift
I'm soon overcome by desire mixed
as pirate laughter rings
throughout my ship
reminding me of what
I like about pirates
and their lust.
For pirates
live on the edge,

A Wounded Angel
How sad to see
thousands of butterfly wings
freshly plucked
scattered on the ground.
How sad to see
Wounded Angels flounder
at the cliffs edge
one by one
falling into the abyss,
a young girl holding
out her hand
trying to hold her sandy heart
pieces
from sifting through her fingers
grain by grain
blown away by the wind,
Orphan Eyes

Murdering Dreams
When no one is looking
I count the steps
in front of my house
no reason apparent.
I linger in front of photographs
that resemble you
and I allow
cruelly
the contrast
between you
and my present life.
Disappointment
is harder to bare sometimes
in real life
catapulting us
to alternative realities
concocted by our mourning minds
which seek those media dreams

Virginity
It is said that you can only be a virgin once
I am not so sure.
For virginity may be more than physical
and may have to be measured
in emotional purity.
You can make a mistake
and squander that first time
with the wrong person
but does that mean that
virginity once squandered is lost forever?
I don't think so.
How many of us even
remember IT,
so tense that first-time experience?
Rather, I think

A Seduction: Stick-People Kissing
It was working late,
hours in that office together
the comfortableness;
the small talk
and the shared work.
You held my arm
to trace along the blackboard
the picture of the stick-people
we drew in the crowd.
So close.
You began to trace
two stick people
one kneeling
and the bubble over his head
said
'I love you.'
I said:

Rejection's Ire
It is Rejection’s Ire which crouches beneath during the holidays
it is long lived and memory-filled and surfaces so easily,
belying my belief that it’s negativities had long since died;
unknowing it rushes back to me at odd times
especially during the holidays;
but I veteran that I now am
caught it creeping through
confronted it
boxed its ears
sending it back to it’s ugly hovel-
not to ruin this year-
this Season’s Cheer
and I, and my mind,
took
Silent Solace
renewing the Season’s Joy
which is to be

I Wish To Be
'I wish to be, ' is what was said
a sound silently, stealthily inhabiting our night
eyes melting on the pillow
in the slush snow
which were her tears.
'You love me true, ' she said
'but if I love you back
I lose my soul.
No fault of yours
you are your dream
but with you I can't be mine
this is sometimes the way of life, ' she said.
'I wish to be
and our trajectories
just don't match;
your life is so large
there is no oxygen left for mine
and in the suffocating shadows

Love's Bounty
If I had a lifetime's sins
to spend
I would spend them all on you
for your single kiss.
If all my yearnings could be gathered and condensed
I'd place them before you
for a single glance;
and tell you
I want you.
If all time allotted to me on this earth
was a single instant
I'd open-palm offer it to you
and gladly pronounce you
