The Shadowed Life

Winter nights & summer days
A frozen meadow with shallow graves
I sit and grieve on this leather weave
For the great love that once was

We rise and fall like the path of the sun
Six feet up to six feet down
We observe our demise with great surprise
Gone when the sun’s in the west

If we accept death as a better place
And pleasantly live our lives
If in death we move closer to the light
Then why is death a world of shadow

Whether were in a concrete jungle
Or a tree-top city
Life always has an end
And death has no pity

Life's Grace

Sweet silence shadows serenity
Leaves sorrow in the past
The eternal peace strengthens its grip
To ensure that it will last.

We move past death and find our light
Shining stronger than any sun
A bright white flame that kindles life
Until that life is done.

A constricting ravine binds us to life.
A force flexible as a reed.
When someone comes and finds that life.
We shall finally be freed.

No Pandora's Box nor cage of mind.
Can hide the pain we bear.
But good people can remind us.
That you and I belong there.

Echo Of The Night

When silence is persistent
And the shadows lie in wait
When the sun steps aside for the moon
You can hear the music of the night

At the break of dawn its hides
It fears the burning golden light
It favors the moon as its ally
One who isn't blind with pride

As the shadows of the day finally dissipate
And the sun recedes in the mountains
When the moon cast its shadow over the land
Once again comes the music of the night

It seems strange to call it music
When no sound is actually there
But like a choir in a cavern
Its voice echoes throughout the land

Connections

Our souls bound to each other we wander
We touch, feel, and understand each other
But in reality we know nothing of each other
This is our connection to life

Our essence like dust flowing in the wind
Whispering in the ears of all
It bleeds from every heart
And rings through every mind

When we enter the shallow realm of thought
We find ourselves deeper than we could imagine
The bell tolls for us in the distance
Its echo traveling across time

The trail of tears and blood
Traversed by every soul
Is a road sought out by many
Yet so few will willing go

Saints or lost souls?

Are we to be lost souls?
Who watch as day rolls?
Or are we to be saints
Under the Sistine chapels paint?

If you are divine turn this water to wine.
If you are so holy thou shall amend his great folly.
Our lives bound thick with a strong golden twine
Our everlasting belief is ours solely

If we deny this call will we be shunned?
And be lost on a darkened path of light?
If our serene city’s citadel is to be over run
Then in this battle of belief we must fight.

The purpose of this is irrelevant
Just keep your belief forever strong
If anyone says this is arrogant
You can passionately tell them they’re wrong

The Path Of Time

Whether of present or past
Or future if you please
The time that you portray
Moves only for yourself

Some choose to live in the past
Lost hopes and dreams they share
But time only last
Until they release the burden they bear

Some choose to live in the present
And behold the sights of each day
A balance of decisions for 10 second frames
And everything always seems fair

Some people look towards the future
To see long term effects unfold
However long it takes to get there
They keep persisting towards their goal

Malicious mankind

When we take a life we feel nothing
And if we do we do not show it
We spill blood on the floor and more and more
Yet still we do not know it

We steal lives of our own in bags soulless sewn
And yet we try to conceal it
We make weapons of war with a steel kit
Their bitter cold we do not feel it

We take our suffering, grief, and sorrow
As means to fulfill redemption
When were not on this earth tomorrow
All of it is just repention

So ignorant and vain we forge our forges
So arrogant with no gain we pillage our villages
We sit idly and suffer while hierarchy gorges
Our bane is hesitation our savior is diligence

Natures gift

In our hands we have a world of green
So much unknown so much unseen
As thickly woven around as its mysterious ravines
All of this life in a small bean

As serene as dusk as bright as dawn
In its early life as small as a fawn
But as the time goes on and on
It develops thick branches and a trunk with great brawn

Sometimes green sometimes pale
Sometimes flies away in a gale
Sometimes in a storm it flails
And sometimes the delicate life can sail

The lyrical sound better than a lute
Even when the conditions don't suit
This life, the gold, the larger loot
It sticks strong to the ground with thick branching roots

Surreal Reality

Remorse and regret are things we feel
Anger and rage are things we conceal
The shadow of doubt runs around loose
To some no better than a hanging noose

A crashing waterfall of questions
With vague answers in its wake
The waves of why that swallow the shores
The bad thoughts we cannot shake

This paranormal world awaits us
Its endless wonder comes and baits us
To find our truths and erase our lies
Surrender all of our wrongs to the skies
And challenge us to sail the seven seas
And bring down all the storms to their knees

The water of lives flows into the sea
The icicle knives that hang from the trees
The fires that burn in the hearts of us all
