The Seed
In the spring
when the air has warmed.
I
planted a seed
a tiny seed.
I
along with my faith
to Mother Earth entrusted it.
I
hoped she would
nourish and coax the blossom
hidden within that seed so small.
To
spring forth in the summertime
with
its beauty its fragrance.
That all may behold and enjoy.
Until
autumn time
when back it returns

Remember When
Remember when?
Remember when we were young.
When every season held promise.
And each promise full of life.
Remember when.
Our love was rich and full.
When looking ahead
has become what was but a dream.
Remember when.
We dreamed we laughed we cried.
Then because of our love
dreams became realities.
With you by my side
remembering when.
Is but proof love's strength
lies in remembering when.

Pressed Petals
Pressed between diary's private pages.
Blossoms from one lover giv'n.
A promise made so long ago.
Sealed with blush from ruby lips.
Fragile petals hidden away.
Hold memories of love so true.
Love once spoken whisper soft.
Grown in strength with passing time.
Hold well your secret, delicate bloom.
Release, recharge lover's memorys' magic.
Each time the diary is reopened,
when your petals are caressed.

One Candle
A spark flickers
a bright flame glows.
Pushing shadows back
one candle burns.
Within its heart
such strength is born.
Brings the will to persevere
in the darkest hours.
From one burning candle
no matter near or far.
Like a living soul
warm energy flows.
To one who is lost
this tiny radiance
lights a dark path.
It shows the way.

Aging
At what designated point?
Does society, consider an individual old?
Is there a chronological time,
when one’s productivity, ceases?
What then shall be done?
Should a person’s prolific contributions,
continue past, that designated juncture?
Must established protocol be re-evaluated?
Is the gift of wisdom,
also the profound ability.
To accept these facts,
reroute formatted policy, no matter when?

Call of the Sea
The call of the sea
haunts me wherever.
Beckoning coaxing
haunting ever haunting.
Soft as the voice of a siren
wafting on the wind.
Whispering in the waves
luring tempting.
On the beach.
Wet fingers of the surf
reaching pulling.
Ever patient ever persistent.
The salt seasoned wind
seeks me out.
It with temptation
subtly saturates my senses.

Speak to Me
Speak to me
speak soft my love.
Whisper tenderly
from your heart.
If I am far from your side.
Let your words
travel on the winds.
Guide me safely back to you.
When I am hurting my love.
Speak to me.
Take away my pain
by the sound of your voice.
Chase away dark clouds
with the brightness of song.
Open the door to my heart
pour in your love.

Good and Fair Men
What is to become
of all good and fair men?
Will they be discarded
along the wayside?
Will they fade
amongst the shadows?
Related of only
in legend and song?
Is honesty and honor
to be found buried deep
in the graveyard of the past?
Is all moral character doomed?
Where is the road of conscience?
Has its signpost fallen away
become hidden from our view.
Must we wander lost?

Mentor
From the fountain of my mentor,
I filled my empty cup.
From the fields of his mind,
I harvested the crop of wisdom.
From the fruits of his knowledge.
I feasted, on every word he placed on the plate.
Under his tutelage, each conquest with him,
heightened the levels of my knowledge coffers.
As my cup fills to overflowing.
I shall filter the overrun,
into the wells, of my pupils.
Perpetuity of mentoring, shall be preserved.

Mourn Not For Me
As I pass by mourn not
but render me a smile.
Feel pride in your heart
stand a little taller.
Mourn not for me
just because I am gone.
Let not your tears
be those of sorrow.
As I pass by salute.
Salute not only me
but the flag as well.
I fought so hard for.
Hold dearly and tightly
to those ideals.
Without regret or remorse
I defended.
