Jelly Beans
By the counter of the candy store
several small rumpled heads
are jumping up and down in joy.
They hear the store keeper's tread.
' What do you want? ' is the cry.
The moment he is in sight,
and if their tiny hands are penniless,
How embarrassing the plight.
They eagerly purchase the jelly beans,
They barely get outside
before they open the packages
and have them open wide.
An assortment of jelly beans is enough
to bring forth elated sounds of joy.
Such candy items it takes to please
a small girl or boy.

A Compassionate Deed
The spring water on the hill meandered its way
Amid the rocks, grass, and fern.
A compassionate man considered it as a potential site
Where exhausted hikers might turn.
He walled in the spring and hung with care
A dipper at the brink.
He thought not of the deed he did,
But that all hikers might rest and drink.
He checked the site often, and the spring,
By the end of summer never dried,
Had quenched the thirst of many parching tongues
And became a haven for the weary and the tired.
The thought was small, but the deed great,
To all those who ventured to the spring on the hill.
A simple fancy of the brain - a welcomed site,
And appreciated by all the hikers still.

Meaning Of Fidelity
Fidelity is filled with eagerness and passion,
Fidelity is deeper than any emotion,
Fidelity is full of trust and compassion,
And is filled with a keen devotion.
Fidelity is filled with eagerness and passion,
Fidelity is a state of faithfulness from the heart,
Fidelity is an adherence to a special cause
And its' sworn vows will never part.
Fidelity is filled with eagerness and passion,
Fidelity is an allegiance bound to stand,
Fidelity is part of a Nation's domain,
And is steadfast throughout the land.
Fidelity is filled with eagerness and passion,
Fidelity is full of piety and ultimate care,
Fidelity is filled with an intense sense of duty,
And is like soothing music in the air.

A Graduation Day Message
May Graduation Day fill your heart
With feelings of accomplishments this day,
To bring you peace of mind and happiness
In every special way.
May the fond memories of school days
Glow warmly in your beloved heart
Where the cherished classmates
Will forever play a vital part.
May Graduation Day be extra special
With elaborate pomp and show,
May the procession of elated graduates
Create glee and parent faces to glow.
May the ceremony for conferring diplomas,
The cards and acknowledgements and flowers
Fill the day with pride and immense joy
And delightful and meaningful hours.

A Ritual of Victory
Out on the playing arena long about now,
Two teams are competing as if they are on trial.
Cheerleaders are entertaining with a new style,
Holding the attention of the crowd for a while.
The fans are cheering as loud as they can.
The players are inspired by the music of the band.
The scoreboard lights seem to blink at will,
The victor's final score is bright and still.
Shortly after the game, they'll all come in,
The players tuckered out, the coach with a grin.
Proud of their victory, they'll scarcely wait,
Specially if the post game ceremony is late.
It may be football or soccer or any other game,
A ritual of victory is basically the same.
The players huddle together and in unison say grace.
Wonder who is standing in my old place.

A Tribute to Valentine's Day
Savor the moments of Valentine's Day,
The scent of red roses and love scenes abound.
Make it a precious day of yesterday's dream
Where your hopes and wishes are found.
Rise with love and tolerance in your heart,
Think of a special person drifting your way,
Embracing in an enticing and affectionate manner,
Cherishing each kiss placed on your lips this day.
Look for love and happiness you deserve,
Find the positive things - forget the wrong,
Appreciate each moment with your love one
Because this Valentine's Day will forever be gone.
Remember this day will be a part of the past,
Gone like many variegated leaves in a breeze,
And as the light of day wanes, you can sincerely say,
' I made Valentine's Day special with gratifying ease.'

Nature's Favorite Color
The green foliage is an attractive sight
On the vast landscape on a clear summer day,
As the white daisies gradually unfold along the side
Of a winding roadway that is somber and gray.
It is a picturesque view that one will readily admit,
Blesses the color of green to the greatest height,
And yet it is a scene that enlightens one's mind
With euphoria and great pleasure and delight.
It is not the beauty of the unfolding rose,
Nor the mellow sunflowers near the old mill,
But the color green - Nature's matchless green
On the highlands that gives one a welcomed thrill.
It is beholding of the color of green,
On the growth of leaves on a swaying tree,
And on the landscape far and wide indeed,
As green is Nature's favorite color for all to see.

Enchantment of Summer
There is an enchantment that comes with Summer,
An enchantment that fills the heart,
And it is displayed in every garden
Of villages, towns, and hamlets miles apart.
There is an enchantment that comes with Summer,
With luster of flowers and the green foliage of trees,
In the chirrup of the robin and whistle of the quail,
And colorful butterflies and swarming honeybees.
There is an enchantment that comes with Summer,
An enchantment for all ages - old and young,
For it seems that people are happier and cheerful
When the intermittent songs of birds are sung.
There is an enchantment that comes with Summer,
When life is like a story - neither sob nor sigh,
The music of the laughing lip - the luster of the eye,
The glad belief in everything as Summer goes by.

Autumn On The Horizon
Autumn is on the horizon, I can tell
By the colored leaves that fell,
While all around the land was green,
The change in the season hardly seen.
Autumn is on the horizon, I can tell,
Orchard trees are fruitless as well.
Their outstretched boughs as if in a spell
As the succulent leaves begin to pale.
Autumn is on the horizon, I can tell,
Birds not singing on the porch rail
Sensing the coming of the autumn chill,
Prepare to flock on the nearby hill.
Autumn is on the horizon, I can tell
Seeing woolly caterpillars on the boarded well,
Squirrels scurrying across the ground
Where hickory nuts now abound.

A Winter's Delight
The snow was falling from the sky,
Skillfully concealing the land once more
With a variety of glimmering snowflakes,
The shapes and forms never seen before.
The snow was falling from the sky,
So beautiful, the vault of pearl white
Made it appear as if the world were new.
It was a scene that made it an artist's delight.
The snow was falling from the sky,
Enchanting the land with a glistening snow.
Nature's wildlife leaving a visible trail
That vanished as the wind began to blow.
The snow was falling from the sky,
And in my caring and sensitive heart,
I marveled at the wonders of nature
Of which we are a genuine part.
