What Parents When Old, Want From Their Children …
When you were small, a helpless kid,
Just imagine what parents did,
From feeding to keeping you clean –
A routine that had always been!
And now when parents are quite aged,
They feel like birds both that are caged;
Just give them half the love they gave;
Don’t lose your temper / misbehave!
When you were small and could not bathe,
Mom bathed you with towel to swathe,
And wiped you dry and combed your hair,
All your mischief, she had to bear!
When parents are now pretty old,
Or have a fever, catch a cold,
Should not the children care for them,
And treat them for each new problem?

The World Gets a New Pope! - (a prose poem)
Death spares no one!
Death spares no earthling!
Death spares no human being!
Death cuts the thread of life certainly;
And the Pope is no exception!
Pope John Paul II is no more!
The old shepherd had finally passed away;
He was eighty-four when he died;
He fell ill twice quite seriously;
He was Pope for nearly 26 years!
He was the ‘most traveled Pope’ and was a Poet too!
And he stood steadfast in all his spiritual endeavors;
He braved ‘the storms and calmed the seas that tried to capsize the Roman Catholic Ship’!
He led His flock to the Rock!
But some sheep did stray away;
Some had lost their faith;
Some went in search of ‘greener grass in newer meadows’;
But these were the souls which were dissatisfied, distraught and diseased!

Earthly Laws and ‘in utero’ Baby Rights!
Womb’s environs must be made conducive
For growth of every seed God-implanted;
The birth-canal is road to every life
That seeks a state of separate existence!
Man ought to help the life within the womb
To grow and get nourishment that’s timely;
Let none convert the sacred womb to tomb,
Enacting laws to curb birth ruthlessly!
Why muffle throats that yearn to raise ‘first cry’,
And see their parents’ faces and God’s sky!
The laws on earth shouldn’t make life worse in womb,
Curtailing growth of human progeny!
‘Unwanted child’ is no excuse to kill!
God heals some unborn, unhealthy and ill!
A few jurors can’t decide mankind’s fate,
And tilt the balance against life each time!

New Year,2010 – Boon or Bane?
And when the clock strikes twelve midnight,
The Old year makes o’er for the New,
Heralded by much revelry,
Fire-works, sound and light with dance,
And music of great decibels,
That fills the air of cities, towns,
Where exotic foods, wine are served!
Most people are in festive mood,
As roads are thronged by surging crowds
Of merry-making, young and old,
Who embellish the change in time
That history makes throughout the world,
Forgetting all the past year’s woes,
Enjoying ecstasied moments!
But these are fleeting hours of life
Replaced by stark realities,
That wakes up persons from their ‘dreams’,
And puts them back upon the lanes

Bible in Poetry: James 2
Favoritism Forbidden:
1 My brothers, then as believers
In our Lord Savior Jesus Christ,
Do not show favoritism.
2 Suppose a man attired fine,
Comes to your meeting wearing rich
Clothes and gold ring and a poor man
In shabby clothes also walks in,
3 If you show special attention
To man in fine clothes and do say,
'Here is a good seat for you, Sir',
But tell the poor man, 'You stand there'
Or 'Sit on the floor by my feet, '
4 Have you not discriminated,
Among yourselves and turned judges,
With evil thoughts and unfairness?
5 O listen, dear brothers, ‘Hasn’t God
Chosen those poor in eyes of world,
To be the richer ones in faith,

Bible in Poetry: Gospel of St. John (Chapter 3)
Nicodemus, a Pharisee,
A ruler of the Jews, one night,
Came and said to Jesus, ‘Rabbi,
We know, You are a Teacher great,
Who’as come from God and does these signs,
For without God’s help, none can do.’
And Jesus answered him, ‘Amen,
I say, none can see God’s kingdom
Without being born from above.’
But Nicodemus queried Him,
‘How can one grown be born again?
He can’t reenter mother’s womb.’
So, Jesus said, ‘Amen, I say,
None can enter God’s kingdom sans
Being of water, spirit born.
What’s born of flesh is flesh alone
What’s born of spirit is spirit! ’
Be not amazed for I told you,

Bible in Poetry: James 1
1A servant of God and of Christ,
Greetings from James to the twelve tribes
Scattered among the world’s nations:
Trials and Temptations:
2 You consider it as pure joy,
Whenever you face many trials,
3 Because you know by testing faith
You develop perseverance.
4 By perseverance you’re mature
Your work becomes complete and whole;
And does not lack in anything.
5 If you lack wisdom, ask of God,
Who gives to all generously,
And without finding fault with you.
6 But when God asks, you must believe,
And not have doubt, for the doubter
Is like a wave upon the sea,
That’s blown and tossed across by wind.

Pope – Jesus Christ’s the Only Hope
A Poetic Excerpt (I) from his speech to US Bishops
For modern world, the only hope is Christ –
The soul of man needs God for sustenance;
One’s loyalty to Holy See is prime;
Let Catholics strengthen bonds with Peter’s See.
America is great a nation sure;
The US Catholics fervently do pray;
Let me commend all believers to God;
Let’s thank God for the gift of grace to Church.
Let world’s largest community today –
The Catholics shine their light to all around,
And spread the Gospel to all fellow-men;
Let them too see your work and thank the Lord.
Welcome all immigrants to join your fold,
And share their joys and sorrows and trials;

Bible in Poetry: Gospel of St. Matthew (Chapter 20)
Heaven is like a landowner,
Who left by dawn from his vineyard,
To hire laborers to work;
He fixed their daily wages and
And made them work in his vine-land.
He met others at nine o’clock,
In market-place, standing idle;
He promised to pay what was just,
And send them off to his vineyard.
He left again at noon likewise,
And around three o’clock also;
At five o’clock, he found some more,
And asked them why they stood idle.
They told him none had hired them;
He sent them to vineyard to work.
When evening came, the owner told
His foreman to summon workers;

Bible in Poetry: Revelation 19
Hallelujah!
1I heard what sounded like the roar
Of multitude in heav’n shouting:
'Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
All glory, pow’r and salvation
Belong to our one, living God.
2 For true and just are his judgments.
He condemned the great prostitute,
Whose misdeeds corrupted the earth.
He has avenged upon her then
The blood of his beloved servants.'
3And they shouted: 'Hallelujah!
The smoke from her goes up forev’r.'
4The elders twenty-four and four
Living creatures fell down often
And worshiped God, who sat on throne
They cried: 'Amen, Hallelujah! '
5 A voice from throne then came and said:
'All praise our God, his servants all,
You who fear him, both great and small! '
