Ponnaga
Placenta night gathered
Thickness as mucous
On that unlighted lane
There on that rain-soaked lane
I chanced upon them scattered
And gleaming bright white
In the pools of light the car threw up
On the rain-drenched tar-
Five petals with long stems
Under a tree that still sent
A shower whenever the leaves willed
I pulled my car aside
And rushed to meet them
To gather a forgotten childhood for once
One two three…
The petals coated with damp mud
And the yellowishgreen stems
Hidden by the dark tar
Queerly exuding a forty year old perfume
Gathered once upon a time

Relationships
some are passing clouds
they leave unbearable humidity behind
some are incessant rains
they don't leave one a moment to think
some are tsunamis
nothing of you is left behind
some are whirlwinds, where
they take one is any body's guess
some are like deflated balloons
none can put air back into them
some are hydrogen balloons
they escape from grasp without a signal
some are a phone out of order
the ring goes on but none responds

Explorations: XXV
a journey,
an evolution...
a life long forgotten
i lived
as many times as i died...
i laughed as many times as i wept..
i rejoiced as many times as i suffered..
ironically, every time i emerged a shade better,
not bitter, whatever i went through..
there's always a trade off...
though i lost mostly
unknowingly or knowingly
i traded the security
of a cage and gave up the sky...
no regrets...
no remorse...

Yesterday's Dream
I don’t want to sleep so soon
Yesterday’s dream is still raw
Triggering a dust-storm in the eyes
Raising red dust, comes sleep
Tuptup, flap the doors of lashes
And just close by themselves
Dream, like a flood, comes
Carrying the broken logs of memories

Ah, Just Tip Of An Iceberg!
Behind a smile lurk many tears.
The frivolous exterior is only a defence
To safeguard one's self...
Each tear gets shed
With a unique sound of silence...
If one tries to share,
There seems to be nothing...
The heaviness of the heart,
The unshed tears alone
Know of the burden...
A constricted feeling around
My heart arrests my breath...
Ah, the curse and burden of
Being born a girl!
Should I regale in my womanhood?
Should I never wish to be born again as one?
Can a woebegone life bring happiness to earth?

Yet another Blast...
Strangely enough
This world is ridden
With vampires
Vampires not interested
In sucking blood out of you
But interested in spilling your blood
On the surface of the earth
To create gore and terror
Whether in stark day light
Or during a normal night
Their fangs are hidden
From all tech-savvy gadgets
They feign innocence
As they casually stroll
Amidst thick crowds
Once the job is done
They vanish as if at the day break...

Potted Banyan
Somebody had pinched it
Of its swiftness and vigor
Its might, its hands
Its roots, its girth
Its fearlessness that could
Challenge the sky
Somebody somebody

I've no answer...
Honeyed words
Shared till then
Assume sourness
In no time
If you ask me the reason
I’ve no answer
Melody to ears till then
Block the ears
With jarring notes
In no time
If you ask me the reason
I’ve no answer
The hands
Clasped till then
Get unclasped
In no time
If you ask me the reason
I’ve no answer

Let The Body Speak
do you know
that this ancient body
longs to speak
devoid of niceties
bereft of metaphors
the only language it knows-
the language of
agony and ecstasy
when desire strikes with
the intensity of a boomerang
hurled eons ago when
we roamed the earth?
…it’s the same
unsettling feeling
then and now too...
and when the body
begins to speak
scrawling its unique alphabet
without guilt
without frills

Universal Human
(*original in Telugu by Papineni SivaSankar)
No, not physically challenged
But he, who challenged physics
He who emerged victor
Over the paralyzing ‘motor neuron’
With his intellectual work-out
He who stabilized
The powdered sounds of speech
With the speech-synthesizer
