Bitter Chocolate

The last dropp of sleep
Slurped by the wily night
I flew kites against
The erratic insomniac air

They once lifted me up
And equally pulled me down
Just the thread in my hands
Didn't really make me a kite-flyer!

The kites flew at their will
Somersaulting like
The best of gymnasts
performing on the darkest sky

Colourful dots losing their colour
On the darkest skies
Winds at their wits
Me, a non-entity!

Raka

this glowing moon
i see on this special night
of kartika when chillness
slowly begins to spread
into the interiors pining
for mild warmth
the nascent cold spreads
blended with warm silvery glow
that investes mortal desires
with silvery wings...
raka-the name conjures up
several vivid images
of angels on picture post-cards
of lovers' passions let loose
in the open fields cutivated
by the unique glow of the moon
of kissing the moon on her cheeks
of soaring to heights unknown
from where earth looks
ready to be discarded

The Invisible Alchemy

(a re-post)

the exasperated
eagerness of creation
expels itself
month after month

finally fructified
within the silent layers
of the ever volatile womb
its pulsation only palpable
to a tender touch
its voice discernable
only by the ear within ear

the soil incessantly strives
to balance the moisture
and sustain…

a sight to see

From the biography of an unknown woman: XLIII

The enlarged uterine walls
Shrank in confusion
The bruised walls
Stared mutely
While scalpel and needles
Did a perfect job

Suspended on the
Thin line between
Life and no life
A full grown fetus
Just missed its beat and
Pulled as a lump of waste flesh

Amidst the silent commotion
There she’s on an etherized table
Forced into a comatose stupor
In an indescribable world
That’s not really hers
That she can never recall

A Poem on Yin and Yang

Somehow, these days
Whenever it rains
On parched earth
It no longer sends
A tickling perfume

I smell burning fire!

Somehow, these days
Whenever I look up at the moon
On a moon-lit night
It no longer sets
My passion high

I see forest-fire spreading across it!

Somehow, these days
Whenever I walk by the sea
On cool mornings
It doesn't uplift

A Boat-ride, Surreal

there, there...down there
through a thicket of fog
beckoned a vacant boat
i fought through the fog
and reached a zone, misty
the boat pulled me as if
i were a piece of iron
i hastened through
the layers and layers...
there i was, at last
assured that it would
take me to the other bank
it wasn't to be
the gently rocking boat
began on an erratic sail
down down the stream
in its womb of deception
hid many a whirlpool
the waters jerky...
hey, what was i doing

Colonialism Of The Heart

And then
There comes a day
when one passes the other
as one among the crowd

Come one may
as a polite guest
gently knocking
at the walls of the heart

The politeness leads
to little closeness
and then to occupying the heart
something similar to
fanon's theory of colonialism!

There comes a day
once again in a different way
where the knock fades into thin air
and the foolish heart

My Teenager's Words Of Wisdom

body is your gift
make it or mar it
the choice is yours

no courage needed
for an act of secrecy
all courage to tell about it

if you know you've a heart
better know how to enjoy
both happiness and pain

remain cool in a new environ
till your worth perculates
then you swing as a king

problen isn't with god
problem is with you
you failed to kill him

Framing You

Haven’t I planned to frame
And hang on the wall?
Ah, lackluster walls
Insipid!
How about in between the pages
Of those untouched books?

What’s the use?
Moths and rats!

Between the folds of clothes?
Oh, those rarely touched saris!

How best can I guard
Round face and chubby cheeks?
Can’t place anywhere, in tact
How to place here and there?
No, I will not frame
I will not place anywhere

For All Mothers

any other presence
in the kitchen is a threat
to her empire...
none knows her pots and pans
and the purpose they're for
except herself...
cooking is her forte,
she believes; none can be
as good at it as her
she can't relish what others cook
to her, she is the ultimate!

pain she gulps
smiles she shares
doctor, she never needs
for nothing can touch her
is her belief...
slightest bruise
mildest pain
on others is
