Sand Sculpture
the ebb and tide for once
froze as your deft hands
dealt with the sand particles
to carve my sculpture by the shore
under that hazy star light
i was sprawled on the stretching sands
and in the reflection of
your warm dreamy eyes
saw myself laid royal by the mighty sea
and regaled at your artistry
and the beauty you found in me
high on my foolish vanity
i dared to dance on the tip of waves
forgetting that i’m but a piece
of carefully arranged sand particles
the sea with its inimitable roar
came in rolling urgency and

Form The Biography Of An Unknown Woman: Xxvi
to say there's only happiness
in her thoughts of him and for him
would be a balatant lie
there're scars
there're hurts
there'have been silences
there has been indifference too
but beyond all these and more
his invisible presence touches her
at each breath she draws in and out
she hears his footsteps and as one
hypnotised she simply follows
till they lead her to her empty bed
and absorbs his visible absence
with abated passion
desire unfulfilled
she waits for the day break
to start yet another day
that would lead her once again

Rendezvous
It’s like any other day, I suppose
Except that we’re together
Either knew that our time is limited
And it’s fast running out too
But how’s it neither bothered about it?
We knew we should part
Soon we’re amidst disinterested crowds
Running frantically against maniac time
Fighting arrivals and departures
Each in one’s own world
Occasionally we looked at each other
You at me when I looked far into the sky
I at you when your eyes idled at the faceless crowds
My ears heard a hollow murmur…
What exactly did your deceptively phlegmatic
Eyes conceal at that point of parting?

A Small Attempt to Capture...
there's the sea
there's the sky
the moon and the wind too
a picture perfect setting
for you and i
but
you aren't you
i'm not i
inheritors of the promordial fire
we're just the carriers of the
principle that governs nature
to probe and penetrate
the mysterious and mystic
depths and spaces
teasing man for eons
to undo all the knots
to unravel our existence
at each penetration
at each probing

A Poem In Visible Darkness
Your love stirs my body
Tender-leaf-body nods
To the balmy sensuous breath
Blown on the nape
In this wilderness I’m enclosed in
I searched for your heart beat
There’s hidden
Your touch
Your love
The colour of earth under my feet
Turned from brown to red;
I was blushing in anticipation
I quickly looked around for a niche
Where we might fold into each other
Where a bird didn’t quiver
Where a leaf didn’t stir
Where on the sky the last star too
Slipped into sleep…
There there I wish to remain

Once Upon A Time...
once upon a time
the sky bloomed
with stars guiding
once upon a time
there were rains
at the appointed time
once upon a time
the moonlight spread
evenly on all terrains
once upon a time
the flowers blossomed
the trees bore fruit
and everything in plenty
once upon a time
the earth moved on its axis
the way it should
now
when stars are hardly sighted
now

A Poem on Rain - Pictures
The birds on the trees
Where did they go?
They stayed undaunted
All through the dry spell
But at the sight of rain
Where did they huddle?
I drew my car aside
Listening to the rain
Rattle on the window pane
There sped by a youth
On his two wheeler
His fists and teeth, clenched
The road wore a deserted look
Just like all those trees
With not a bird in sight
An occasional car
Made some watery-sound
Breaking my revelry

On Visiting Shiridi...
what binds me to them
is the same faith we share
as the winding human length
moves and comes abruptly to a halt
we all wait with the same thought in mind
though routine matters fill the space,
the focus would never shift from mind
and o, what relief for a wink when one stands
in the presincts of his presence
he sits there absorbing all
that nth part of blink is the time
we leave behind our acquired self
to stand there in his presence as we are
let sanity prevail
in this world of ours
fast bordering on insanity
let there be tolerance
let there be love

From The Biography Of An Unknown Woman: Xxvii
'when i love or hate
it's for the rest of my life! '
the words hit her hard
from afar as the tropical
midsummer dry heat that poured
in through all the possible
inlets of the house
'but why nurture hate for so long?
how can the love you carefully
arranged along with your other
acquisitions turn into an object of hate?
why not learn to let go, for your sake?
do you know you forgot to dust your
love along with other objects
continue to love it as you would
the other decorative pieces of your home
at least for the good of your well-being...'

In a World of Counter Creation
Just a prick
Less than an ant’s sting
In its intensity
There you lie
Your body turned into
A piece of seasoned wood
It gets sawed
It gets stitched
The way needed to re-fix it like
A piece of designer-furniture
In unique patterns
And
There they’re
A beaming smile
In walking white
Service at heart
Compassion on lips
Always on their feet
