Of rains and ruins
She sat on the window sill
Till the light was stolen
The dark sky looming above
Knew no respite
From morn to eve
She wept and wept
Tears flooding the earth
No trace of father
Did the little girl discern
There she slept all by herself

Some Sea-thoughts
i saw the sea
in high pressure
or in low pressure
moderation she knows not
i saw the sea
weeping its heart out
pity, none to notice
her pain or tears
i saw the sea
stretching its parched
tongue for a dropp of water
to quench her thirst
i saw the sea
looking longingly
at the dark clouds
passing by...

A poem salvaged from the bin…
That morning when the sun
Was in hurry to show his fury
I settled down on the sofa
My weary brow dripping
The humid weather outside
I had the bin emptied before me
And a crumpled piece of paper
Caught my blinking vision
“The tree reveals of the root-rot
Only when the leaves begin to fade
And the branches stand ready to fall
But still there come a bird or two
For a brief rest…
I give the roots all that I can to nourish
Unaware and unguarded…”
My eyes declined to go further
My sweat

Why can't we...?
River flows
Only in one direction
And knows its destination
Yet,
Those by the banks
Thrive and prosper
Why can't we be
Like the river?
Tree bears fruit
And gives shade
For none in particular
Yet
Knows not its fruit
Or its shade
Why can't we be
Like the tree?

This Morning In The Southwest Balcony
the first rays of the sun
penetrated into the house
bright and pointed
from the eastern door
untouched by the sun
we sat on the other end
in the southwest balcony
quietly over a cup of tea
the savoring warm liquid
causing the insides cuddle
tickling the chillness out
above us the sky began to
assume its exclusive azure
filling the winter precincts
and feasting the heavy eyes
i lifted the sleepy lashes to
absorb the blue and it’s then
i saw you transforming
into the blue sky…

Once I was foolish
Once I was foolish—
I thought I could nurture
A garden of flowers
In a desert
Once I was foolish—
I thought I could clad
A desiccated tree
In its lost foliage
Once I was foolish—
I thought I could restore
A bird missing
Back to its nest
Once I was foolish—
I thought I could swim
The length and breath
Of the oceans

Paint Me In All Hues
On a lazy afternoon as this
When the room has been
Shut off to sunlight
The light floral curtains
Fluttered to the whirring fan
My languid leisurely skin lie there
Bare to the cool circulating air
There's a sudden outburst
Of colors of varied hues and shades
That showered as if from
The ever intriguing sky above
Desire, in its intricate motifs
And inexplicable colors had spread
In multicolored patterns
Carefully arranged in heaps of petals
From the last strand of hair
To the last particle of my little toe…

From The Biography Of An Unknown Woman: Xxxi
i spotted her pondering by the shore
challenging the afternoon tropical sun
as if on an impulse
she walked in giant strides
with a sudden bout of energy
in spite of the humid heat
from a distance i could see
that she's fighting against
the tide of her thoughts
trying to pull her into the sea
she clutched at the sands
with her toes to no avail
the currents simply pulled
the sands from under her fragile feet
'i may not be a victor
but i won't give up either...'
spoke her face

On Seeing An Infant's Photograph
what enchanting lands
are let loose behind
those eyes?
the smile tells me
several stories of
those far away lands
that have been
so much part of your world, now
my first lesson to you, my love
lose not that smile
filling your world and mine
with bliss unbound
come what may
my second lesson to you, my love
when stress and strain
wears you down
close those eyes
just as you do now
even for a wink
to revisit those lands

Explorations: XVI
nurtured and adored
all relationships
circumstantial!
ashes whisper
life's course
incessantly
crumbs of loneliness
scattered on earth
birds and insects feed
peace:
for one, much despised
for other, much desired
treat hurt
with tenderness
lo, it becomes love!
