In Inevitable Absences...

sometimes confusion laces
the mind and sometimes
visible green dots
float across the puddles
like directionless paper boats
sometimes diffidence
sits on its haunches
weighing a ton on the
fringes of the heart
sometimes fear sets ripples
like the grandfather's clock
after striking into the wee hours
sometimes stars flicker
beyond my reach
sometimes full of confidence
i float in the weightless
spaces within...

a fountain of emotions
spring forth in your inevitable

A Poem At A Memorial Meeting

He is a poet
A poet much misunderstood
Or not understood at all

Everyone gathered
To offer tributes.

Some said they're choked
Some read out from his books
Some stood at the podium silently
Some subtly made reference
To his emotional vagaries
And drunken ways
But all agreed upon his affection
And his humane side
For, the donation of vital organs
Suddenly put him on a different plain
For both friends, enemies and acquaintances

I sat there among the crowd

For Him I Know Not: XVII

I floated
Across oceans
I scaled
Mountain ranges
I rolled down
Verdant hill slopes
I roamed
In virgin forests
I was drenched
In crystalline rain
I sat
By warm fireplaces
I challenged
The war-lord
I walked past
The milky-way
I set
My foot on the moon
I stopped
For a while at Jupiter

Through The 'eye

when the 'eye'
gets ‘entangled'
i get transported
to lands unseen
ever unvisited
all in a blink
the 'eye' tears apart
the opaque walls
of geographical spaces
crashing down like
stars in collision
scattered around
like shards of glass
reflecting picture perfect
images myriad concealed
in mysterious spaces
i hold each image
i envision
the truth behind creation
the beauty the 'eye' re-reveals

Moving Amidst Spoils Of Time

we moved…

in feigned elegance
in crude curiosity
in clumsy motion
in surprised stride
from one ruin to another
lying pathetically
in the shade of ancient trees
chopped noses
clipped lips
half severed breasts
a cut across the stomach
a wound on the thigh
part of genitals hanging loose
all left to weather to wither

we cried
we laughed
and walked

For Him I Know Not

as he walked out
drops of moonlight
trickled down my limping back
the tear that dropped into my palm
too had the texture of moonlight
that he and i felt between our fingers

but when he left me
it's in shallow
ripples of moonlight
i found myself in

on every amavasya
i inadvertently bring
my fingers together...

on every moonlit night
i see him peeping through the moon...

in his absence

Eversince You Had Left

somehow these clouds
seem to come in my way
they neither rain nor float away
they always clutch at my eyes
causing the lids to droop
ever since you had left

these ears feel threatened
at the jarring sounds forced on
when all that they want to hear
is the gentle sway of wind
and musical rhythm of rain
you took away with you

this heart is always alert
not to miss that sudden flash
of light your presence may fill
to brighten the dark chambers
with rhythmic flow of light
it's left unlit ever since had you left

magical Bond' Of Words'

in the absence of
'time place and action'
crushed as we are under
'time's juggernaut'
the heart flies like a
'disjointed kite'
the parched soul looks around
for 'a few drops of dew'

standing 'at the level crossing'
measuring 'clouds and colors'
'agony' hits like a blank 'canvass'

nothing is found 'between
the covers' either!

in the 'solitude of silence'
i simply listen to the silence within
gathering the 'anatomy of dead cells'
of the 'entombed silence'

For, ...whom I know not

When I’m with you
And you, with me
In that fleeting wink
The world assumes
A different hue
Me, no longer
What I’ve known
Myself to be…

The inner eye opens
And in that piercing light
I see my soul float in the air
A white feather
A snow flake
A transparent rain drop

Wait…

In that all engrossing silence
A distant melody that drew

For Him I Know Not: Ii

and then the jasmine creeper
that bloomed in the extreme
north west corner of the house
whispered many a smiles to
the full bright moon last night
i don't really know what conspired
between the creeper and the moon
the moon bathed in the perfume
crawled into my room with a few
petals still hanging down the neck
i stretch my moon-cuddled hands
for you to rest your weary head
in the scented softness and i
i blew the petals with
as much strength as i could
that you bathe in the scent
on this cool summer evening...
