i never really explored
the depths of this soul
that people talk so much of
but when your eyes first met mine
and the lashes moved on their own
in disbelief if it's all for real
that nth part of a wink
i knew what eternity is all about
in that eternity i dived
deep into those unknown depths

Sometimes...
sometimes i wonder why i do this
sometimes i seem to know the answer
sometimes i refuse to accept the answer
sometimes i keep repeating the answer!
it's sort of funny when i see all this
as an outsider
it's sort of exciting when i see all this
happening to me
it makes me sad
it makes me joyous
it makes me cry
and also laugh

On an Early Summer Morning
Sleeping under the open sky
I woke up to find my skin
Covered by the tiny flowerets
Showered from the mango tree above
My skin and my bedspread
Smelt of its raw fragrance
I felt I was the messenger of spring
Perched on a branch on the green canopy
Playing hide and seek
I cooed with the same gusto as the enigmatic bird
Another cooing echoed as if in response!

Every Evening
as light begins to fade
every evening
i lie down on the couch
darkness wrapping me in
i shut my eyes
to light up 'my' dark chambers
and to swim in
the cascading light
my lips curve with the
distinct repetition of your name
distant sounds pour
faintly into my ears
in the darkness
and within my brightness
i connect my self to you

A Poem of Shadow Boxing with Self
Sitting beside reluctant fan
That rotates at its will
I indulge in a shadow boxing
With the insider
Who indulges in
The routine game of hiding
Never allowing me a chance to seek!
I pant
I puff
I sweat
The eluding self, forever
At its teasing game
Reduces me to a child
Left alone in a procession
Of drums and wails
Fearfully blocking the tender ears
And making the brain walls numb!

On The Day Of Solar-eclipse
on this day of near total eclipse
i confine myself to indoors and brood
the scientific explanation vis-a-vis
my grandma's account of serpents
feasting away on the sun...
any day, i prefer the granny's account
for once it reaffirms my belief that
none is a constant victor
none the constant vanquished
and that even in our intriguing universe
tables do get turned...

For Him I Know Not: Xii
when breath is involuntary
when heart is in its rhythm
and breaks into a natural smile
when there is silence within
and not pulled into surrounding cacophony
when past, present and future fade
and the affairs of the world grow fainter
when sorrows are allayed
when it feels a wholesome moment

Inside A Breathing Tomb...
time erred again
this time it buried one
still breathing down under
posing a counter challenge
the buried refused to succumb
it(?) grew and grew
deep down under
expanding the 6x3
to accommodate the
growing size
the marker time has
fixed atop its booty
too kept moving with the soil
that kept increasing its volume
for once
time, the vanquished
grave, the victor!

Mute Gods
what do gods
generally talk
among themselves?
do they laugh
at the human foolishness?
amused at how they are
outsmarted by them?
i can never decipher
the language they express
in birth and death
the sound of sighs
that reach them from the earth
how do they absorb?

towards the invisible abodes
